Two steps Forward one Step Back…Installation of kitchen tile

September 6, 2011 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 5 Comments

Today I am getting my kitchen back splash installed, that was to be my last project on the first floor, if you remember we have been doing many projects that stemmed from damage our house suffered in a Nor Easter in 2010.

So although I am really excited about the tile, my joy is somewhat diminished by the 5 x 7 hole in the ceiling of my keeping room/eating area off the kitchen! Thank you Irene.

I know many more suffered worse than I did, and I feel horrible for them, but I still feel sad for me. I really wanted to be finished with all of this work, it has been going on for over a year.

Our house in very traditional and reminds me of an updated farmhouse, so for the kitchen we just decided to go with a white subway tile. I know in blog land that they are overdone and supposed to be out but what can I say, we like classic.

These are a few of the inspiration photos that we liked, hopefully in two days I can show you the finished kitchen!

We would go blueberry and peach picking with my grandmother and fill bushels of peaches to take home for her to bake with and the can for the winter. I’m not sure how much help we were because I am pretty sure that we are our body weight in peaches. We were a sticky mess by the end of the day with a belly full of Michigan’s finest peaches.
