More Art for My Collection

October 14, 2011 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 11 Comments

As I mentioned yesterday I love paintings. I have several collections of paintings, some of which I showed you yesterday. Many of them are old and collected over years from antique stores, inherited, on trips to Europe and Africa or gifts from artist friends and many are from the sources I mentioned yesterday, galleries, eBay, etsy, 20 x 200, art fairs.

For the most part all are original works of art, and this is the latest addition to my collection! As you can see from the photos it is quite large, and it is old. The back is inscribed, “To Dorcas”, and frankly, it needs to be restored because the canvas is brittle and the frame is a bit wonky. But I do not care because it is so beautifully executed. The pansy’s are so life like they look like you could pluck them off of the canvas and put them into a vase.

And here is where we hung it! Over the front door!

Love it! You chose a great place to hang it too. Pansy's always remind me of my Grandma, they were a favorite of hers and she planted them every year.

As you say, so beautifully executed! What a great find Elizabeth. I share your love of art. Another thing for you to consider when living on a boat. There's nowhere to hang your paintings! I have a storage unit full just dreaming of having walls.
    Have a great weekend!

    Elizabeth Dear!

I love all of the beautiful art you are collecting..those sweet pansies bring a smile to my face, so lovely.
I have always had a goal of collecting and hanging original art, and I am so inspired by the pieces you have shared on both of these posts. Right now it's predominantly family works (mostly my ten year old!), as well as precious friends like Anita, which are very special as they are from those I love. I adore some of the modern Russian impressionist painters, and they do sell on Ebay. It is a thrill to find something which speaks to your heart! Thank you so much for sharing the beauty in your life..

I want to also say MERCI for your visits! I was so happy to see your messages there. Regarding the friends in my home, you just let me know when you are in the Minneapolis area, and you are so welcome to come on over, I would be so honored! And Anita will be right by our side! How fabulous would that be…

I knew the bibliophile post would be dear to you heart! You recognized Nigella, did you? Isn't that a spectacular space??
    Thank you again…

    Blessings to you,
    Bises,
    – Irina

Well, I have tried this method before and failed at it, but I was trying to transfer an image onto canvas. I will try it again with a solid surface. Thanks for the inspiration.
