Barbeque or Barbecue Ideas for Memorial Day

May 23, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 4 Comments

Baked beans, potato salad, burgers, hot dogs, brownies all great barbeque food. Barbeque’s are one of my favorite parts of summer.

I love the smell of a charcoal grill and I love a burger with all of the fixings. I think I make potato salad almost every weekend along with many other fixings for a barbeque.  As this weekend is Memorial Day weekend I thought it might be fun to compile some inspiration for a great afternoon meal with friends and family.

Hamburgers, traditional with lettuce, ketchup and may or blue cheese and red onion or even blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onion. Yum!

Hot Dogs

Potato Salad, blue cheese and new potato salad, or perhaps grilled corn, tomatoes and sliced potato’s or maybe a twist on a seven layer salad. All great options.

Coleslaw

Baked Beans with caramelized onions and bacon.

Grilled Corn

Desserts, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, fresh berries, banana cake, cupcakes or

rice krispie treats.

Drinks, lemonade with fresh berries, water with cucumber slices, or perhaps some beer and wine.

I hope that you find a few favorites or a few new ideas here. What are your favorite barbecue foods? Do you frequently bring or make a family favorite? If so tell us all about it, I love to try new things!

I hope you enjoy your Wednesday! The three day weekend is almost here!

    How delicious!
I shouldn't be looking at this as I've just made my mid morning coffee, now I want something to eat as well!
The sun is shining here in London, and as soon as I've finished my coffee, I'm going to get some more elderflowers, and make another batch of cordial. Jude x

Oh dearest, the mere THOUGHT of these foods conjures up the most bittersweet memories of my ENTIRE FAMILY gathered around the picnic table at SMITH PARK in Los Angeles. The one thing added to this exact list of foods is WATERMELON eaten with salt. While I NEVER LIKED THAT practice, my Mexican-American family LOVED sprinkling salt on it! But the sweet part about this memory are the lazy days of summer when all that us kids had to worry about was WHEN WAS THE FOOD BEING SERVED. The bitter part is that those adults are no longer……

Happy MEMORIAL day my sweet. Anita
