Brunch Ideas for Father’s Day

June 12, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 6 Comments

Father’s Day is Sunday! Are you ready to celebrate? I will not be with my dad but I will certainly be thinking of him as he celebrates with my sisters.

As with any celebration I like to think of food first, after all, is there anything better than sitting around sharing a meal and conversation with the people you love?

If I were having a Father’s Day Brunch these are a few of the things I would serve.

Eggs

Eggs in any form are a favorite for many. Quiches, scrambled, a strata, baked, fried or over easy which is your choice?

Ham and Egg Strata from Better Homes and Gardens
Cheesy Potato Bake from Better Homes and Gardens
Sweet Potato Hash, Eggs and Spicy Hollandaise from Better Homes and Gardens
Scrambled Eggs in Potato Nests from Better Homes and Gardens
Goat Cheese Quiche with Hash Brown Crust from Martha Stewart

Meats

Sausage Patties
Sausage wrapped in Bacon from Martha Stewart
French Toast BLT from Martha Stewart

Sides

Hash browns, fried potato’s, grits! They all make a great accompaniment to eggs.

Wild Rice Pancakes with Smoked Trout
Oven Brown Potato’s
Cheesy Grits with Bacon

 Sweets

If you have followed me for any length of time than you know that sweets for any meal are a favorite of mine. Pancakes and Waffles are the meals of choice when we have breakfast with my dad. Ever since we were little kids on the weekends and on holidays my dad always made us pancakes and waffles. My brother and I love them with Vermont Maple syrup and my sisters like them with raspberry jelly and powdered sugar.

Mini Pancakes with Jam
Coconut Waffles

If you are looking for something sweet and fast than than these two recipes which I have featured before are easy. The cinnamon roll muffins I featured yesterday and the praline monkey bread I served at the holiday. Both of which you can make ahead.

Praline Monkey Bread

What are your plans for Father’s Day? Will you be celebrating with your dad, grandfather, sons? Whatever you do and whomever you are with I am sure that it will be lovely! Enjoy!

Your baking is always so gorgeous, Elizabeth!
And I love eggs prepared in all ways…
Just had quiche for lunch today, yum.

I am sorry you'll be away from your Dad this Sunday, dear friend…but hopefully you will have some quality time on the phone. Do you Skype with your family?

    Wishing you a wonderful week…
    Sending love,
    – Irina

Oh my dear, Father's day is a rough one for me. My mother died on that day and when I think of my daddy who is gone as well, I can't bear it. Have a wonderful celebration at least across the miles with your DAD.

    Love to you! Anita

    Hi Elizabeth –
You are making me hungry again 🙂 I need to eat before visiting your blog. Unfortunately, I will not be here to celebrate F-Day with dad. But, it is one of my favorites, and we normally go out for brunch. Cheers! Loi
