Gerbera Daisy Summer Sunshine

July 25, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 7 Comments

Yesterday I was dreaming of Fall and today I am enjoying the beautiful color of summer. I love flowers, and try to have a few fresh ones in the house each week, that way even on a grey day there is a little sunshine in the kitchen.

This week I thought the Gerbera Daisy was the perfect pick me up, not only because it was bright and fresh but also because it closely resembles sunflowers ( the flowers if fall).

I know many people do not like pink, but I think these are sort of preppy looking don’t you think? Pink and green, isn’t that the preppy uniform colors?

I personally love the fuschia color with the black center.

And I love the way they look from the back. Have you ever taken the time to look at a flower from behind?

I haven’t and now that I have I am fascinated. The photo above is my favorite!

I wonder the purpose of the fuzzy petals on the bud?

Doesn’t the green part look like a flower?

I guess it is true what they say, “the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” You have to love Marcel Proust.

I hope you have a great day! Perhaps you will discover something new today too.

Enjoy!

Proust, along with other French counterparts, was brilliant. Look at these flowers….I see them all the time, tightly wrapped in cellophane, waiting for a caring soul to pick them up on their way out from the check out counter. But once observed, they bring so much more delight when WE LOOK CLOSELY….your photos today my dear are just GORGEOUS! I wish I could have fresh flowers in the house, but my ALLERGIES GO BERSERK!!!!!!!

    Happy day my friend! Anita

You can't lose with Gerbera, a single stem, a trio or a great big bunch, they are easy. I never over tweak them and they always lift my day, love!

Wow, the one you took of the reverse of the flower is amazing. I wouldn't have thought of looking at it that way round either, but it is stunning. Great blog BTW.

    Hello
I so love this post. The gerbera daisy were my nieces favorite flower in the whole world. She passed away 4 weeks ago, and everytime I see a gerbera daisy it makes me smile. Thank you for this smile today and for sharing with me.

You did a beautiful job photographing the beauty of this flower. The petals are just gorgeous.

    Country hugs…
