La Porte Rouge

July 10, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 15 Comments

It is no secret that I love blogs, one can see that from my huge blog roll. In fact, I even keep a notebook of really great blogs that I find, and I think it is nearly filled with all of the details of these gems.

One of the most beautiful and special blogs I have ever come across is La Porte Rouge. This blog is not new to me, I have been reading it for years, but I do not know if you know it. So today, I thought I would share it with you, so that you can discover the beauty of its author and her home in Vermont in both words and stunningly beautiful photographs.

The La Porte Rouge is written by Nadia, and her words and photographs are magical. She lives on a 100 acre farm at the top of a mountain with her husband and her menagerie of animals, many of whom are rescued.

Each post from Nadia, feels as if you are reading from her personal journal. As a reader we get to  follow along in her footsteps from the time she gets up and tends to the chickens, and horses, to her visits to her garden and orchard and then her travels to Montreal, and to neighboring towns on her road trip adventures, and finally to the setting sun.

Nadia is a gentle soul, a person who genuinely cares for nature, animals and people. She is the kind of person that everyone would be blessed to have in their life because she makes you see that there is beauty in the little things, like the flowers on a fruit tree, the beauty or raindrops on a window, and more importantly the smile of a friend or a child.

I won’t drone on any further but will let you go and discover for yourself the gentle, grace and beauty that is Nadia, Vermont and La Porte Rouge. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

Oh, one last thing, in addition to La Porte Rouge, Nadia also started a blog book club Read with Me La Porte Rouge, and you can find it here. I have enjoyed all of the suggestions so far and enjoy the book reports from other blog writers who are reading along.

Enjoy Nadia and all of her stunning images, all of the images in this post are taken by Nadia and can be found on La Porte Rouge and Pined many, many times on Pinterest.

Have a wonderful day!

    Hello Darling,
I read her too and have her on my blogroll. The images are wonderful. You are such a good friend to have, always thinking of others!

All is fine this side of the pond. Who've been so busy and we have graduation on Thursday. I have been neglecting the shop I'm afraid but after next week when, once again, Meg moves out and into her new flat, things will calm down.

    Much love

I am so excited!! Headed over now…..this is right up my alley because I dream of one day owning a place in Vermont and getting away from the rat race and having my own garden and enjoying leisurely days with little to do…..life seems to move at a slower place there and lets you stop and really enjoy and savor lifes smallest pleasures. I can tell already this is right up my alley. Thanks Elizabeth for the heads up….sorry I havent' been around much, its been a very busy July, hoping August will slow down a bit. Missed being here….nice to be making "my rounds" again!

I did it backwards: I found you through Nadia, and I think you might like Fig and Fauna. It's not me. My mum won't let me have a blog until I get my grades up, but it is similar to Nadia… farm and beauty.
