Somewhere over the rainbow… a view from the clouds

July 17, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 9 Comments

Hello! I am back from a quick weekend trip to Missouri, to celebrate my mother-in-laws 85th birthday! It was a wonderful trip that culminated in a beautiful pool party, where she was surrounded by family and friends and showered with lots of love and of course a few presents. A fabulous time was had by all.

I am so very lucky to have such a kind and loving mother-in-law, she is a friend, as well as, my biggest cheerleader.

As I am still trying to get my mail taken care of, just collected my pup from camp and have to work today  I thought I would show you what I did on the plane ride.

Although, I did have a book, the view out of the window was beautiful! If I hadn’t taken some of these pictures I would not have believed how beautiful it actually was.

Magical really.

What do you think?

Tell me, do you ever take photos from the plane window or do you mainly read and take in all of the interesting people?

Or perhaps play games and listen to music?

Normally, I try to sleep, read, eat and not talk my husbands ears off.

But on this trip, I sen down the Ipad, and the book and just stared out of the window and snapped away.

This photo above is my favorite.

I hope that you have a wonderful day! Do stay cool if you are in the 2/3’s of the country where record temperatures are being recorded, and pray for rain in the parts where the crops are drying up and everything is brown. It is heartbreaking to see.

See you tomorrow. I hope you enjoy these photos!

    Hello my dear!
First of all, wishing your lovely mother-in-law many more happy and healthy years! She sounds like a wonderful lady, and it is a huge BLESSING to have that kind of a relationship with an in-law.
And now, these photos….wow, Elizzabeth, they leave me speechless. You have captured a glorious piece of heaven! Amazing photos, dear friend.
When I traveled in the past, looking out the window to the horizon, soaring above the clouds….it was the most exciting, exhilirating feeling. I LOVED flying….and would always be quite sad when I did not have a window seat! 🙂
What a treat to see such spectacular beauty…thank you so much for sharing…
I hope you find some time to relax with chocolat chaud and sweet Munchen!
    Sending you much love,
    – Irina

Yes! Lots of plane photos! Flying over the Arctic circle…One setting sun where the sky is blood red. I'm always afraid I will miss something if I am not watching out there!
    Beautiful photos!
    xoxo, Chris

They are magnificent! I particularly like your favourite too, a "God sky" with the sun rays through the clouds. Nice job Elizabeth!
    Have a great week.

    Simply gorgeous,
    Elizabeth! No, I do
    not usually stare out
    the window, but dive
    into a book or some
    sort of periodical. I
    will need to remember
    this post on my next
trip and LOOK UP : )

    Welcome home! It was
    101 here, yesterday, but
I am not tired of it….yet.

    Happy Tuesday,
    xo Suzanne

I am also one who takes photos of the clouds when I'm flying. They have to look pretty interesting, of course, and your photos are lovely. I always think it's interesting to hear what people see in the photos…
Your last photo hit me. It appears an angel's wings are emerging from the clouds. 🙂
    Funny the shapes you imagine…
    Hope you're staying cool!
    Enjoy the week~

Although I developed a fear of flying shortly after college…if I can drive there I will opt to drive….these pictures are phenomenal….makes me want to give flying a try again just for a photo field trip 😉

Elizabeth your pictures are wonderful. Sometimes when looking out of the airplane windows I get the sense I might be able to walk on the clouds….They are always magical. I usually do not take a window seat, so I must admit I usually am reading or knitting. I may have to rethink this now. Again, beautiful!

Welcome back, Elizabeth! Beautiful photos! I am always nervous to keep the shades up as everyone is trying to sleep or watch a movie. The light makes it difficult. Thanks for sharing 🙂
