30 Things I Love About Fall

October 10, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 13 Comments

Fall is a favorite season for many and as I said yesterday I think for me it is a time to slow down and nest; to take time to appreciate the little things in life and the ones I enjoy the most.

As I was reading your comments and the things that you  mentioned that you liked I decided to write my own list of the things I enjoy most about Fall.

My 30 Favorite Things About Fall:

1. Pumpkins to carve or just enjoy as nature intended.

2. Apples, picked fresh at the orchard or from the farmers market

3.  Plaid blankets

4. A roaring fire in the fireplace or outside at the fire pit

5. Warm Socks and cosy slippers

6. Cashmere wraps and scarfs

7. Chili and hearty soups

8. Family  togetherness

9. Long walks

10. Candy Corns

11. When it gets dark at 5:00

12. Flannel pajamas

13. Hot Water Bottles to warm your feet at night

14. Endless supply of hot cocoa or hot cider

15. Time to sit on my porch with a stack of magazines and relax

16. Falling leaves piling up only to dance away on the lightest breeze

17.Candlelightevenings casting their warm shadows

18. Fresh baked bread right from the oven with honey butter

19. Wellies to splash around in the puddles and the damp grass

20. Barbour wax jacket to keep me warm and dry

21.  Pine cones and acorns, natures gifts

22. Spices of the season: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice

23. Caramel apples

24. Daylight savings

25. Pumpkin pies

26. Brisk Air

27. Argyle

28. Long soaks in the bathtub

29. The sound of football games on Sunday afternoon

30. Preparing for the holidays, baking, gifts, and decorating!

What are your favorite things about Fall? Have you written a post about them? If so, send me the link and I will add it here.

Enjoy your day!

You have captured Fall beautifully. I love the sound of football games on the telly too (we do pay to get American ESPN, but with the time zones, they start at dinnertime), and all the cozy food. Cozy blankets. Cozy, cozy, cozy

    Good morning dear friend!

I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU MENTIONED! The fact that many of these things slows me down to rest and cozy up is enough for me to embrace. I am off this morning to my first substitute teaching assignment, so I am happy about that.

    I still haven't heard from Adsense…hmmmmm. I wonder what I did wrong?

    HAVE A GREAT DAY! Anita

I think you covered everything to love about fall Elizabeth. I personally can't wait to start up our wood stove! Today would have been good since it's cold and raining but Dylan dog is sleeping beside it….lol, can't roast the puppy!

All the things you mentioned, dear friend! The colors of the leaves take my breath away, the cooler air, the "excuse" to get cozy and nest….so many reasons to love this splendid time of year.
And I see some pumpkin white hot chocolate…we had some the other day, and I'm making pumpkin pie today with the rest of the canned pumpkin…yummy.
What are you baking up this weekend?
    Love to you!

Baking with spices, and apples, and pears, and pumpkin, and molasses… baking. 🙂 Sweaters, changing leaves, crunchy leaves, misty mornings, chilly walks, frost, hot apple cider, silent fall evenings, the smell of woodsmoke, getting ready for Christmas!!

Going outside this Sunday morning with the dogs and standing under the sugar maples that are a giant umbrella of green in the summer, now yellow with the leaves drifting down on us in the dark drizzly day, feeling a shiver of anticipation that something wonderful could happen at any moment. And agreeing with your list and the above comments. This is it–the reward for a long hot summer.

The only thing I do NOT like is it getting dark at 5PM. I LOVE daylight saving time and wish it was light til 8 or 9 every night of the year! I love the smell of spice candles, cozy socks, chili, soups, a fire in the fireplace and MY NEW HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
