Christmas Around the House 2012

December 8, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 11 Comments

Good morning! I hope you are well! I thought I would share a little of my Christmas decorating this year.

Christmas this year is all over map in terms of color but it is “color blocked” as they say, each area is one color or tone. It probably sounds strange but it works and it makes me smile which is all that matters.

I wanted simple and elegant at the door, the wreath is light blue and silver and the trees are lit with white lights. There is also a sleigh filled with silver presents but I am not finished wrapping the presents so that will have to wait for another day.

This little tree is in the living room, it is for the kids, all of the ornaments, and bird cages are green, except for 3 gingerbread people representing my nieces and nephew. The little weenie dogs are their gifts to take home.

At the top of the tree is an okra angle, made by my friend Marian, she personalized this for me with a pine cone and an acorn.

I loved my bird themed tree last year, with the signs, pine cones and the birds that I decided to keep it again this year. This tree is in our keeping room adjoining the kitchen.

I added this tray next to it for Christmas snacks. My nieces and nephews will love it. Especially as my nephew and I love sugar and he has informed me that we are having a “sugar party.” I cannot wait!

I have inherited many pieces of sterling and silver plate and although I do polish it, for this room I left it tarnished to go with the burlap on the tree and the rustic birds. Lest you think I was being lazy.

How do you like my partridges? No pear tree but I do have a lot of pears in the dining room.

The view from the kitchen island, I love it at night with the lights shinning in the mirror and reflecting in the window opposite.

The scent of oranges and cinnamon sticks and one of my favorite candles; a collaboration between the Nest and Elton John. All proceeds to go the the Elton John Aids Foundation. The candle is spicy with cinnamon, orange, and the scent of the season.

Kitchen/keeping room fireplace, the pears are always here, I added the feather garland and used the same bulbs from last year.

More feathers and a little silver from my collection on the farm table. This table is going to be very busy in the next few weeks, it is where we will wrap presents, decorate cookies, do puzzles and make our gingerbread house.

This is just a portion of the house, I will show you some more later. In the meantime, show me what you have been doing. Include a link in your post, I would love to see your decorations and your ornaments!

Have a great day! Enjoy the spirit of the season.
