Christmas Smiles

December 19, 2012 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 7 Comments

Good morning! I do not know about you but I could really use a few more days to get ready for Christmas! I am getting a little tired from trying to do WAY too much.

So last night I made a decision, I am done baking, wrapping, and getting ready.

My family is coming to see me, not how clean my house is or how many dozens of cookies I made.

I am going to spend some time enjoying the Christmas smiles around my house and while I am out and about!

How are things at your house? Are you done baking and wrapping?

Or are you already relaxing and enjoying a few Christmas movies, glasses of eggnog and some evening cookies by the fire?

How do you relax during this last hectic week? Or do you wait until the holiday is over for that?

I hope that you find time to revel in the spirit of the season. Enjoy your family and friends because that is truly what it is all about!

Have a fabulous day!

    Good morning my precious friend!

I KNOW. I KNOW the hectic feeling and I just cannot do anything about it other than finish the work I have to get done by the day after Christmas and then carry on. I have no one coming for the holidays, so the decorations I do have up are just for us.

I LOVE ALL THOSE SMILES AROUND YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!

Biggest hugs of friendship to you, Anita

    Hi Elizabeth
Living on a boat is a great excuse to do very little, I don't have the space and I don't have the facilities. I buy cookies and cakes, from the best bakers, all the requirements for cold lunches, tapas, charcuteries etc., have an invitation for Christmas dinner and have all presides bought online and wrapped. My only job now is to have fun. Sorry if I sound smug but I believe so much of the Christmas stress is self imposed and as you say, family and friends are coming to be with you, not your house and baked goods. The most important thing for you now is to enjoy yourself. No one enjoys a stressed out hostess, it makes for an uncomfortable time. Enjoy 🙂

Good morning, Elizabeth! I am right there with you on this – my guests arrive Friday and I really could use a few more days, but I finally have things under control. Now I want to sit back, relax and enjoy the holidays!

    Have a wonderful day! xoxoxo

You are prioritizing Elizabeth – good for you! Our families remember experiences NOT whether or not the house is clean or if the tree looks like a magazine cover. It's tough for women as WE are always wanting everything to be perfect for our families.

I enjoyed the title of this post;) We all need smiles during this season! Enjoy!

I too am not quite ready. I love that we share the sentiment regarding how clean the house is (or isn't). This is our first year with the kids away and now returning for Christmas so of course the most important details are the traditions, the favorite foods and just being together!
