Downton Abbey Season 3

January 7, 2013 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 7 Comments

Good morning! Did you tune in to watch Season 3 of Downton Abbey? I did and I loved every second. I cannot believe that it has been almost a year since the last episode.

I have to be honest, I thought the wedding was a little anti-climactic, but then again perhaps I don’t know what I was expecting or perhaps I was expecting too much.

I did love every scene that Shirley MacLaine was in. I think she brought a little, no make that a lot of spark and sizzle to the show.

As for Lady Sybil and Tom, I am on the fence about that too. I guess it is only the first episode so I will reserve judgement.

I could go on and on but if you watched then you do not need me to recap each scene. What was your favorite part of the show? What did you think of  Shirley MacLaine?

And Maggie Smith? I have missed her, her wit and her quips this past year.

In addition to Downton Abbey I had a very busy but enjoyable weekend. My family hosted a birthday party on Sunday for my sister; I was able to visit with many aunts, uncles, cousins and of course my immediate family. We never get to spend enough time together and it is always a pleasure. I baked and read and did relax for the first time since the holidays and it was so nice.

Did you enjoy your weekend? Did you make anything great recipes? Celebrate any birthdays? Read anything that you think we might like? I would love to hear.

Enjoy your day.

WE ARE WAITING ON BATED BREATH for this season to come out on DVD. We have Downton Abby, SHERLOCK with Benedict Cumberbatch (SO GOOD!) and FRINGE to finish seeing….and now we are watching ONCE upon a time….there are some pretty good stories out there, but Downton Abby is our favorite. OK, now to get the day started!

I enjoyed it so much. Shirley has added some humour, for sure and she has always been one of my favorite actresses. I found the wedding a little 'short' in detail and expected more to happen but it was beautiful, nonetheless. I now have my daughter hooked. 🙂

Season 3 did not disappoint! Two of my favorite lines were Maggie Smith's: 'Nothing says success, like excess" and when she says she needs a drink, then turns to her son and says she thought he was the waitor (because he was in a lowly tux and not white tie) Nothing beat British humor!

We had a wonderful weekend. Our son, daughter-in-law and 3 year old granddaughter came to spend the weekend. My granddaughter is my muse, I cannot spend ENOUGH time with her.
After they left for their long drive back home, my husband and I just "lazied" around, read the Sunday paper, had some delicious soup that I'd made and frozen, then settled in for some great Downton Abbey. It was everything we had waited for and then some. Shirley and Maggie are a great pair!

I did watch, and I loved it. Shirley MacLaine has long been one of my favorites.

Sunday was our son's birthday, and we celebrated with joy. It was a great day and a wonderful weekend.

    Hello Elizabeth

I loved Downton Abbey last evening. I feel they moved through the wedding quite quickly possibly for the benefit of male viewers, who might not have had the same interest. Maggie Smith is my favourite. It is very entertaining.

    Have a wonderful week
