Lincoln and the Snowy Weekend

February 11, 2013 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 9 Comments

Good morning! Did you have good weekend? Did you have to fight the snow all weekend or did you find some time to sit back, relax and enjoy it a little.

Most of our snow arrived on Friday and a bit on Saturday. We woke up to a beautiful winter, wonderland.

After shoveling, my husband and I took a walk around the neighborhood.

When I was young I used to ice skate on the pond above and I always enjoy coming back  here to visit. My siblings and I spent so many happy days here.

I never tire of winter. I love the way the snow transforms the landscape.

In addition to some beautiful and relaxing walks I managed to see Lincoln.

Lincoln is a fabulous movie staring Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln.

I was riveted watching the final four months of Lincoln’s life as he worked tirelessly to get the Thirteenth Amendment passed by the House of Representatives.

Have you seen it? Or any other good movies?

Did you enjoy your weekend? Did you get up to anything fun, relaxing, entertaining?

Can you believe that this week is already Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday? The year seems to be speeding by so fast, I really must slow down a bit and take the time to enjoy the little things.

Enjoy your week!

The snow shots are beautiful..now that we got a big dose and I do mean BIG I am fully ready to zoom into spring:) Yes saw Lincoln right when it came out and thought it was very good, very well done and he was amazing in it! We saw Silver linings playbook (again) my husband had not seen it so we went yesterday…very good, very real, great performances from all principle characters. I definitely recommend it. Enjoy your day!

I loved Lincoln but I do not know of Silver Linings, I will have to look it up. Thank you for the recommendation!

Stay safe and have a great night.

    Good morning my dear friend.

We also had our share of snow last night and this morning, I heard the snow plows bashing through the snow!

I tried to watch Lincoln, but I need to try it again. The dark tone of the film in the beginning put me to sleep!

Wishing you a comfortable day, Anita

      Marsha,

There are some great movies that are nominated. I have to be honest, I would rather watch movies at home. I love to be comfortable and to multi-task while watching. I have yet to see Argo but it too is on my list.

      Have a great week, Elizabeth

Elizabeth, Your photographs are beautiful. Have you read "Team of Rivals"? It is an amazing story of Lincoln. Lincoln is still on my list of "to see" movies. Stay safe and warm. Bonnie

      Bonnie,

Thank you for the compliment. I have not read Team of Rivals, I am going to have to put this on my list. I have always been a European history lover and only mildly interested in American history but lately I am finding myself drawn to it.

      Have a great evening!
