Good morning and thank goodness it is Friday!
These last two weeks have worn me out; between two family funerals, outings with friends and a busy weekend with my husband I could use a little down time

The up side is that I have seen many relatives, some that I have not seen in about 5-10 years, tried a few new restaurants, and of course spent many hours talking with dear friends.
This weekend I will be seeing the Early Music group Masques preform. If you are unfamiliar with early music, it is basically music composed before 1800 and typically includes performances from Medieval, Renaissance and early Baroque music from all over the world.

Masques is a group that is new to me and I am excited to hear them preform. The performance by is entitled “The Entertainment for Louis XV” and is preceded by a lecture “The Mistress and the Musician: Mme de Pompadour’s Influence on the Arts in Louis XV’s France.”

I am a Francophile and am intrigued by all things Versailles; the Kings, the Mistresses, the building and the culture. I believe that I we in store for not only an interesting but also entertaining evening.
Are you a fan of Early Music? If you have some favorite groups I am always open to hearing new music and I would enjoy your suggestions. If you are open to new music, here is a link to a list of some fabulous groups. A few of my favorites are Anonymous 4, The Tallis Scholars, Chanticleer, and The Bach Ensemble.
Aside from the concert I am anxious for the next installment of Downton Abbey. I am happy Bates was freed because honestly I was a little tired of that story line.
What are your plans for the weekend? Concerts? Movies? Visits with family and friends or a nice quiet weekend with a book? Whatever you do I hope you enjoy it!

Good morning my dear. I bet you are exhausted….I really hope you get some much needed rest and YOU KNOW I LOVE all the things you are sharing; Versailles, early music and DOWNTON ABBEY, which I have seen ALL the episodes. Ruben bought the DVD and if you have not yet seen the Christmas special (I believe it will be on this weekend?) then get out the tissues…if you cry easily like me!
Thank you for visiting. I think I am going to have to explain to my readers that I simply enjoyed TRANSLATING a French song into English words and IMAGES…it does not reflect my relationship with my husband!!!!!!!!!!!! I think people are getting the wrong impression!
Sounds like you have been busy, but with all good things. The only experience I have with early music was a friends stepson who was a violinist in an early music group in college…we went to see him perform. I didn't even know what the term "early music" meant until then! Enjoy your concert and family time.
We are off to Boston tomorrow…..
Hello Honey!
I love the Tallis Scholars. Masques sound interesting, I have to check them out on YouTube. Enjoy your weekend, sounds wonderful.

What a lovely weekend, Masque sound interesting as does the pre-concert lecture. I am also keen on Tallis, we have two super classical music radio stations here in the UK, Radio 3 & Classic FM, both often on in the background while I work or cook.
And Downton Abbey, I missed the first two series but have now caught up, and Anita is right the Christmas episode is a real tearjerker.
Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Love all of these, dear Elizabeth…you know we're kindred spirits! 🙂
I do hope you are taking good care of yourself, my dear….
What an emotional time this has been.
Our weekend has been full of friend and family outings…catching up on birthdays, etc.
We are getting ready for another arctic week!
Hugs to you,
