“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
~Emerson~
Good morning! I would have to agree that every day is the best day, but I also think the happiest day is Saturday(at least it is for me).
I love to get the pile of magazines and catalogs that came during the week, a few books and of course the ever present cup of cocoa and spend a little time reading.
This past week I reread Choosing Happiness by Alexandra Stoddard. Are you familiar with any of Alexandra’s books? I have many and have enjoyed them all. For those of you who do not know of her, she is the author of 28 books, an interior designer, and a speaker on the art of living.
Each book is thoughtfully written, filled with inspiration and exercises to get you moving on the path to happiness, joy, and living a beautiful life. The numerous quotes contained in the margins are my favorite parts of the books, often times I find myself reaching for my journal to write one that has particularly touched me.
Have you read any of Alexandra’s books? Which is your favorite? What day of the week is your favorite and why?
I hope you have a wonderful day and that you choose to find happiness in the simple rituals of life.
P.S: If you are a fan of Alexandra Stoddard you can follow her on Pinterest or on her web page.

Saturday is my favorite day too 🙂 I haven't read anything by her – feeling curious 🙂
Good morning dear friend! Well, yesterday was quite the beginning of a week-long party for most of us, and I thank you for having had participated for the one day. MANY THANKS and wishes to you for a relaxing weekend! Anita
Yes know her books but not this one. Things good mothers know is one I have and have actually given, there was another one but I cannot remember the name. Having time for book/magazine reading sounds perfect to me……..enjoy!
I have seen a couple of Alexandra Stoddard's home decor books at the library, but thanks for this recommendation. Always looking for good reads! I can really relate to your Saturday morning plans with the exception of the drink – I always have tea:)
Thank you Dear for stopping by.And I have to say …there is nothing better than a stack of mags on a table…LOL.I'm also in love with your blue toile cup and saucer.
You have a wondeful Sat,

Hi Elizabeth.
I've read some of Stoddart's books but haven't picked one up in quite some time. Very lovely for when I'm feeling in a mood. Hmm, maybe it's time to reread some. I love Sunday mornings. Somehow Sunday always means a day of rest for me and that's lovely to look forward to. Apart from feeding the cats I try not to put any pressures or "have to's" to Sundays. Having said that, this Saturday morning is shaping up very nicely. 😉
It's been quite some time since I've read one of Alexandra Stoddard's books but I do remember being inspired, in my late 20's, by her ideas of living a beautiful life. I must look her up again. Thank you for the 'beautiful' reminder today. I love Saturdays too!
Cheers, Heather
My dear, I LOVE Alexandra Stoddard's work, and I've been collecting her books for many years! Do you know…your writing style always reminds me of hers? Have you ever participated in her Happiness Weekends? Something I would love to do…
What a delight to know you are also a fan…
T&C is such a great read as well…a feast for the eyes…
Enjoy your luscious chocolat chaud et le weekend, chere amie….
Big hugs,
– Irina
Elizabeth, my husband gave me "living a Beautiful Life" (I think that is the correct title) many years ago. I remember it celebrating femininity in an almost spiritual way. I often see her books in Anthropology. I need to see if I can put my hands on the book. I am interested to see if it is as I remember. Sunday is my favorite day. Enjoy your weekend.
I am new to Alexandra's books. you have opened my eyes and I will seek them out. The chocolat looks divine.
I haven't heard of her before, I will check them out today…thank you for the recommendation 🙂
Have a lovely week-end & thank you once again for all your lovely comments, you are so kind XX
I love Alexandra Stoddard's books…so positive and affirming. I hope you had a lovely, relaxing weekend! xoxo
Before we talk about Alexandra Stoddard, I just have to know if I am going to gain weight reading your blog. I found you through Anita's party – isn't it fun – and the first thing I see today is ice cream.
I have never read any of Alexandra Stoddard, so I guess I should, although people tell me my constant happiness drives them crazy. Not that they don't mind my always being happy, but they wonder why they can't always be happy.
Anyway, I will be back even though I shouldn't be looking at ice cream.
I haven't read any of her work…
