4th of July Desserts!

July 4, 2013 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 8 Comments

Good morning! The rain has stopped, for now, and hopefully we will see a little sun. I am not complaining because frankly I do not mind the rain on a work day, but I would like to see the sun and fireworks over the 4th of July.

Slab Apple Pie Made by Me from my grandmothers recipe. RECIPE HERE

As I mentioned yesterday I love barbeque’s, and one of my favorite things to eat in addition to all of the fixings is dessert.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake made by me Recipe HERE

I have a huge family and when they get together there are so many fabulous desserts, many from my grandmothers recipes, that is it is hard to choose between the slab apple cake, the eclair pastry, the German chocolate cake and too many more to mention.

Berry Pie from Better Homes and Gardens

I have gathered a few patriotic recipes for those of you looking for something festive, healthy(there are berries included) and fun.

Hi, I had already decided to finish my baking hiatus this weekend, my son, who is currently having chemotherapy is flying down with his family for a visit this weekend. Of course I've arranged a family dinner, and your grandmothers slab apple pie will be a perfect partner to the casseroles I am making. Nice and warm on a cold winters night, I might have to bake a couple of those chocolate slices as well. Enjoy your 4th July celebrations.

OK now my greek yogurt isn't looking all that great….lol. Since it's mister mans choice of desserts and thanfully he always wants something with fruit, I'm making cheesecake blueberry bars with our own fresh picked berries. I can't wait to try a few of these desserts pictured.

Still raining in New England and we have humidity since this is coming from the south so please make it stop on your end!

Wow Elizabeth! These ALL look SO good. The cakes, apple pie, all the berries.. I think I'll be making several here. We will be traveling for a few days so I won't be doing much cooking .. I'll be the recipient this time;) Enjoy your long weekend. xxL
