Good morning! Among all of the great things I have been up to this summer; the beach, visiting with family, traveling, one of the things I have been doing a lot of is reading. However I am not just reading new books I am revisiting a few of the classics. Do you ever do that?
Jane Austen is loved and adored by many, myself included so I thought I would re-read, Mansfield Park and Pride and Prejudice this week. I loved them this time as much as I did the first time. Although I will admit that I like Pride and Prejudice the most of all of Jane Austen’s Books. I am not alone as I believe I read that roughly 20 Million copies have been sold.
I also read Little Women and Little Men by Louis May Alcott, as well as The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers. Now I am slowly making my way through a collection of Balzac that I have had for years and years.
What are your favorite Classics? Have you read any this summer? Are there any on your list of “must reads”? Think about it and let us know I am sure that we can all learn something new from one another.
By the way, all of the Classics including Jane Austens novels are free in the public domain, you can listen to them at Librivox or read them at Project Gutenberg.

On a side note Jane Austen fans, last year Kelly Clarkson purchased at auction a ring belonging to Jane Austen for roughly $250,000. The British Government blocked the export of the ring and now the Jane Austen Museum is frantically hoping to raise the money to purchase the ring from Kelly Clarkson. If you are interested in saving Jane Austen’s ring visit The Jane Austen House Museum or if you would like to follow along in the 200th Anniversary celebrations of Pride and Prejuidice visit HERE.
I hope that you have a great day!

That ring is FANTASTIC. Vintage rings and earrings are a weakness of mine, and the simpler, the better. That doesn't mean I don't like my ostentacious designs, though!!!
Lovely reads, fabulous ring. Anita
Pride and Prejucice is one of my all time faves, both book and movie. The Wings of the dove another favorite..there are many.Enjoy your day…
I still have the student mentality. Summer is when one gets to read whatever calls your name. The classics are always a great choice. I just reread Jane Eyre, because it was mentioned in another book. I'm having a bit of reading withdrawal at present though. My reading time is being spent working in my classroom. This is when I get my fix with short stories. Always enjoy hearing about you latest reads. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Bonnie
I definitely need to get back to some classics…Jane Austen is at the top of my "must read again" list.
Enjoy your day, Elizabeth! xoxo
I have been rereading a lot of Barbara Pym. Also E.M. Forster and Austen. What an interesting situation with the ring. I wonder if the UK will be able to keep it. Great post!
I read a lot, including re-reading the classics every once in awhile.
It's been awhile since I've read Mansfield Park, but not that long since I last read Pride and Prejudice. I have read Monte Cristo, and the Musketeers, of course. I've loved Twain's books, both the novels and his travel books.
