I know that many of us are patiently waiting for the return of Downton Abbey on January 5th, 2014 but I am curious what are you watching on Sunday evenings in the meantime?
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I have been watching the Last Tango in Halifax which I am thoroughly enjoying and last night I discovered Paradise. Did you watch it?

Paradise is based on the novel Au Bonheur des Dames by Emile Zola and is the latest BBC drama to be shown on PBS Masterpiece. It tells the story of the people who live and work at the Paradise, England’s first department store.
John Moray conceived the Paradise and has been slowly purchasing up the surrounding small mom and pop stores to create his fabulous emporium of all things beautiful. Denise arrives fresh from small town, Pebbles to make her life in the big city and instead finds that her uncle with whom she had been hoping to live is slowly going out of business due to the competition from the Paradise. In order to survive Denise takes a job at the Paradise and become enamored not only with the world of retail but also with John.
I love this program, it is a wonderful costume drama, romance, and mystery all rolled into one. At least it will get me through to the middle of November and then hopefully PBS has something else up its sleeve.
I would love to hear about what you are watching on PBS, cable or whatever. Although I am not a huge TV watcher I am always interested in your suggestions.
Have a great day!
On a side note, today is my husbands birthday! I have never meet a more wonderful, loving, supportive person in my life. Bill is my biggest cheerleader and I a so very blessed and lucky to have found him. Happy Birthday my dear husband. I love you with all my heart.
P.S. Something to tempt you on Tuesday from, Once Upon a Chocolate Life

Hi Elizabeth..I watched Paradise on DVD recently and thought it was great. Have you seen Parade's End, Mr. Selfridge or The Cazalets? All fun British classics. I have not seen Last Tango in Halifax but read about it. I will look into it. Brownies a la mode? You got me! xx
Oh dear, we actually don't watch TV an only get wind of these great shows after they become a rage with everyone. Then Ruben buys the DVD! That's how we learned of Downton Abby and now we're hooked! I love anything from the BBC, and we actually were watching SHERLOCK with Benedict Cumberbatch and are anxiously awaiting the return. YOU would love that one!
Have a super day my dear. Anita
I hate to admit it but often I watch Bravo..talk about the antithesis of Downton Abbey! LOL….Its a fun and guilty pleasure:) Until January that is.
Well Downton Abbey started again in the UK last weekend. It started off slowly, but you are in for a few shocks. This weeks episode received a lot of complaints (which I think were totally unfounded), but now you know you have something to look forward too 😉
Paradise looks like a show I would love, too! Thanks for mentioning it. Hugs, Diane
Oh, I love DA, but I haven't seen Paradise, I guess I have to go get the DVD too! Is DA showing in the States already, because I will watch it than, here too.
Please let me know. Thanks for sharing this new shows with us. Big hugs,
FABBY
Hello there Elizabeth,
As mentioned in a previous comment Downton started here a couple of weeks ago. No spoilers here but it was s slow burner and then wham! Talk is of boycott and that they went too far. It's in all the tabloids.
I loved The Paradise. Interesting note, Shirley over at Simply Chateau blog in France, supplied most of the ribbons, buttons and laces for the haberdashery department.
All the best!

Hi Elizabeth,
I watched The Paradise Sunday for the first time. I liked it a lot. We got hooked on Breaking Bad (on FX I think). I missed episodes in previous season so my HB has bought all previous seasons on DVD.
Yum on your dessert!
Thank you for this PBS tip Elizabeth…it looks like something I would really enjoy..
And yes, I am a Downton Abbey addict as well…and a thank you for coming by and all your encouragement in the ORC…..N.xo
I do tend to like Pbs for the documentaries series. It is top of the line.
The new BBC Sherlock series is outstanding.
Good question – there is just a type of thing one wants to watch on a Sunday evening (said in my best Violet Crawley accent).
We've really enjoyed watching "Call the Midwife" and "London Hospital"
