Good morning! It is a beautiful albeit cold morning with a fresh blanket of snow covering all as far as the eye can see. The winter wonderland is making me wish I could hunker in this morning with a bowl of chocolate oatmeal and my Ipad reading my favorite blogs and adding to my list of Friday Favorites.
The birds are chirping and the squirrels are scrambling around the garden looking for a snack. Do you feed the critters and fine feathered friends in your yard? If so and you are looking for a special treat for them this winter, A Brit In Tennessee has a tutorial for making homemade suet cakes.

Bette’s Blues featured the magical photographs of Elena Shumilova. Each photo of Elena, her beautiful children and their pets is a visual feast. I would love to know which is your favorite.

Lisa from A Bloomsbury’s Life Lisa traveled to Antwerp to explore the museums, try the best french fries, check out the city and stay in THIS great apartment. Although I have traveled to a few cities in Belgium, Antwerp was not one of them, after this post I am moving it to the top of the list.
The Gunny Sack |
As you know I love quick and easy recipes, normally I prefer them with sugar but on a cold winter weekend something savory is just the ticket. Tonia at The Gunny Sack shared her recipe for Crockpot White Chicken Chili this week. I think this soup looks like the perfect lunch for Saturday afternoon.
After a bowl of soup and a long nap I think I will take another look the post Emily from The Doctors Flemming shared about Good News . The Doctors Flemming is a blog that is new to me but was shared by Simone of From the Bottom of the Ironing Basket. You will grin from ear to ear after you read the post.

Since it is the weekend what could be a better way than to sit back, relax and take in the incredible food photography of Adventures in Cooking? Eva’s blog was a finalist in the Saveur 4th Annual Best Food Blog competition and from this one photo you can see why. Her recipes, styling and food photography makes you feel as if you could reach into the page and pluck off a taste.

My dear friend,
How I wish I could say I've seen or heard the little feathered friends in my garden, but it is simply too cold right now! Yesterday's winds sliced through here with the sharpness of a machete! How I long to see the cardinals again. I must get some suet treats for them, but I fear the squirrels will have a feast!
ENJOY YOUR DAY!

Oh my gosh it's been pretty nasty weather wise here in Minnesota. Very cold, windy and lots of snow. We fill our feeders full of seed, suet, corn and banana bread. Been going thru a lot of peanut butter too. My husband says they eat better then we do! But tonight he'll come home to a pot of beef stew and a nice warm fire.

There are people around my neighbourhood with feeders. I'll often see various birds out my back window darting back and forth to the feeders in one of the adjoining yards.
