Good morning! Yesterday we saw the end of Dowton Abbey Season 4 as well as the Olympics. I miss them both already. Although there were many critics of the Olympics I personally loved them. My only problem was the incessant criticism and snipping by the American commentators about the mascots, the opening and closing ceremony, and a few other things. I am not going to dwell on that though because they were beautiful.
Did you watch the closing ceremony? Did you have a favorite part? I loved the ballet, the Russian poets and the segment with Chagall.
Which reminded me of another great Russian, Igor Stravinsky one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Did you know that there is a whimsical fountain in Paris inspired by his work?
Created in 1983 by sculptures Jean Tinguely and Niki de Sainte Phalle, the Stravinsky Fountain is located in Place Stravinsky next to the Centre Pompidou.
There are sixteen moving sculptures in all and were inspired by Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring and his other major works.
I always enjoy sitting by this fountain watching the world and the people go by. Do you like the Stravinsky fountain or is there another in Paris that you enjoy?
I hope these colorful photos taken on my last trip to Paris brighten your day, stay warm and safe. If you need a soothing beverage to send you on your way or to welcome you home try this Mocha Hot Chocolate I made recently. You can find the recipe HERE.

You know what they say…..Paris is ALWAYS a good idea.
Have a wonderful day my friend. Anita
SOOO agree about the snippy remarks it was disgusting and did not go unnoticed!! I was discussing it with a few people and it really does not show Americans in their best light. Here things went beautifully, a truly amazing production and they still need to dwell and focus on something negative, it really got me mad!
On a bright note…your feed is finally updated in my new blogroll…woo hoo:)
It's a very colourful fountain, and I do like his music. It's the first time I've heard of this fountain.
In the past, when I've glanced at American channels covering Olympic ceremonies, I've found that the commentators simply don't know when to shut up and let the images speak for themselves.
One of my favorite spots in Paris….(although I did almost have my purse stolen in that same spot!).. 😉 He did not realize I was wearing it across my body, thank goodness….
Gorgeous art…thank you for this feast for the eyes today…
Me too…sad about Downton…I need to start rewatching them again.
And the closing ceremonies….they gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes, Elizabeth…like you, the ballet, writers, Chagall….exquisitely beautiful and powerful…I'm so glad you liked it.
We had an article in the Sunday paper about one of the main producers, who lives in the Twin Cities (an American)….he used to work for Disney…as well as 6 other producers of the ceremonies…Disney people…not surprising! They have a Russian conceptual and creative team, but it took a village of folks from all of the world to bring all of that together…
