Friday Favorites from Hand Luggage Only, Carlsbad Cravings, Reclaiming Provincial and More

August 10, 2014 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 6 Comments

Good morning, a happy Friday to you. Are you ready for the weekend or is that a silly question? I mean, is there anyone who does not enjoy the weekend? I am ready to do a little catching up, on my reading, baking and things around the house. I have been slacking lately, perhaps spending too much time at the beach or on my paddle board.

One of the things I want to catch up on is my favorite blogs, including a few of my Friday Favorites.

Recently I discovered the blog, Hand Luggage Only written by Lloyd and Yaya. It is filled with fabulous travel tips and photos of their adventures around the world. This week they shared 9 Tips to Take the Best Photos, it is a great post that can help anyone learning how to improve their photography.

Junk food is one of my favorite things to eat, in fact it is my favorite thing to eat. If I could each cheese, chips, burgers and sweets all of the time I would. Pretzels and cheese are at the top of that list, I order them at the movies, at my favorite restaurant as an appetizer and sometimes even while traveling. So this weekend I am going to try to make my own, using the tips from Jen at Carlsbad Cravings. By the way, be sure to check out Jen’s other recipes, there are so many great ones you might never need another cookbook.

As an avid blog reader and Pinterest addict I have fallen in love with beautifully styled photographs, I even have a board called Food Styling.  One of my favorite blogs and one that I think you will love too is Reclaiming Provincial written by Carey. Her recipes, styling, and photos can be seen not only on her blog but on Food52 and in Eating Well Magazine.

I recently finished Antonia and Her Daughters by Marlena de Blassi. Marlena de Blassi is one of my favorite writers and this book is excellent. As with many of her books, it is filled with beautiful descriptions of Italy, its history, foods and people.

I don’t know about you but my IPhone is underused, simply because I cannot be bothered to learn about it. Yes, I take photos, send messages and texts, and Instagram but I recently learned that it can do so much more. Here are 20 Things You Didn’t Know Your Iphone Can Do by Life Buzz

Feel like living like one of the Founding Fathers of the USA? Four houses on Elfreths Alley, Americas oldest street are for sale. For more information click HERE

I hope that you find something new here that will perhaps become a favorite of yours. As always, if you have sometime to share I would love to hear about any recipes, book, movies, etc that have become favorites of yours.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

So I am hunkering down and taking solace inside enjoying the details of a collected home and life. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood
