Good morning, I hope that your week is going well so far. I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that it is November. Seriously, I feel like if I blink it is going to be Christmas!

November is my favorite month of the year. The clocks are turned back, and because it gets dark earlier my nesting instincts are in full swing. Cosy blankets, piles of books, stacks of firewood, fuzzy slippers, tins of tea, are just a few of the simple pleasures I enjoy at this of time of the year.

I find myself setting down, more relaxed and contemplative. Perhaps it is because it is the month of my birthday and as they say, “with age comes wisdom,” not to mention that it is also Thanksgiving. A holiday that for one day is supposed to prompt us to be thankful for many more days.

For many years I kept a gratitude journal and then I stopped last year, who knows why, I got too busy, or lazy. But this month I am adapting an “attitude of gratitude”” and making it my goal to start writing 5 things a day I am grateful for in my journal; to be more mindful and conscious that no matter how my day is that there is always something to be grateful for.

I am hoping by the end of the month that a new habit will have re-formed and that I will reap the benefits of being grateful. After all there is scientific proof that practicing gratitude improves your health, self esteem, and promotes positive life experiences to name a few.
Do you keep a gratitude journal? Or a gratitude jar? I would love to hear your ideas for practicing gratitude and to know if it is something that you are conscious about all year long or if you need a little reminder once in a while like myself.
I hope that you have a great day!

I do not keep one but think its such a great idea, a really good idea for kids who grow up with a lot at their fingertips and a culture where its me, me me. It is important to stop and think of the things we have and treasure that money cannot buy. Happy early birthday! I can't believe its Nov either…scary to think in a month begins the crazy holiday season!
I have not kept a gratitude journal, but I do know that every time i get crabby during the day, reminding myself of 5 things I am grateful for would totally turn my attitude around and lessen my stress.
I've heard of the concept, but I've never done that myself.
Good morning Elizabeth! I just saw your post over at Sandy's and it was GORGEOUS! You are going yet again this Christmas I take it? I will be there in May or rather June now….with high school students!
How are you? Busy, I presume….and your idea here about a gratitude journal, oh dear, I MUST MAKE ONE NOW. Thank you my dear. Enjoy your day! Anita
I love this time of the year for many of the same reasons. I have been so busy though I haven't taken the time to stop an enjoy it. I am ready for some quite time with a good book and a cup of tea…or a glass of wine (depending on the hour). I hope you have a quite weekend. Bonnie
