Friday Favorites from Pretty Pink Tulips, Refinery 29, Julia’s Album and More

October 3, 2015 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 6 Comments

Good morning! Happy Friday! I hope that your week went well. Here, all was well except the weather; it rained, and rained and the wind blew and then it rained some more and now we are in the path of a Category 4 hurricane. The stores are empty of “the staples” like water, bread, etc and people are preparing for the worse and hoping for the best. In the meantime I am going to take advantage of the rainy weekend and just catch up on a little reading.

Image World Walks

I love walking and this article in The New Yorker Magazine, Why walking Helps Us Think reminds me of just a few of the reasons why.

Another thing that I love is pumpkin. I cannot get enough pumpkin at this time of the year,  basically if it has pumpkin in it I will eat it.  Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pasta, pumpkin soup, pumpkin donuts and more.

I think this Pumpkin Praline Cheesecake might be just the thing to make this weekend. After all what could offer more comfort on a stormy day than something sweet?

If you prefer savory pumpkin dishes to sweet than this Pumpkin Ravoli with Brown Butter Sauce and Pecans might be right up your alley?

I wrote this week about my 10 Everyday Classic Wardrobe Essentials for Fall and I realized that I actually should have had 11 wardrobe essentials, I forgot the black turtleneck! A black turtleneck is obviously a classic wardrobe essential and this article on Refinery 29 A Loveletter to Black Turtlenecks : It’s History & Magical Powers tells why.

Are you a Nancy Meyer fan? If so you should check out Elizabeth’s post at Pretty Pink Tulips on the fabulous sets from The Intern.

Did you find anything interesting  to read, see, watch or do this week? If so please share.

For those in the path of the hurricane be careful and stay safe. Have a great weekend.

I have to catch up and read
    your wardrobe post! I am
    trying to have a "curate"
    mindset with mine, culling
    and whittling it down to
    what really works!

    Going to hop over to
    Elizabeth's and take in
what is sure to be some
    great pics from The Intern
    set : )

    I include ground pumpkin
    seed protein powder in
    my (almost) daily smoothies.
    It's a great alternative to
dairy and chock full of good
    protein, vitamins and minerals.
    It doesn't taste like pumpkin,
though, so have to turn to
    some of these other yummies
    for that, instead!

    Enjoy your cozy time. It
sounds like the worst of it
is going to stay out to sea ~
    phew!!!

Hi Elizabeth, I am hoping that the storm has passed you by without too much damage! As always, your Friday faves are SO wonderful – I am seriously craving anything and everything pumpkin, especially that ravioli! And, the walking graphic is something I should pasted onto my wall – now that I am on the mend a bit, I really NEED to get out and walk. Stay dry and enjoy the rest of your weekend! xoxo

“Learn to love and appreciate the good in others “Learn to love and appreciate the good in others.” Good afternoon friends, it’s the last day of February, which is called heart month, not only for Valentine’s Day but for heart health as well. Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women? Ladies if you don’t take care of yourself no one else can, eat right and get moving, cardio vascular exercise is great for your heart! This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

So I am hunkering down and taking solace inside enjoying the details of a collected home and life. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood
