Friday Favorites from Foodess, Bon Apetit, Luxe Adventure Travel, The Chunky Chef and More

July 31, 2016 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 6 Comments

Good morning! I hope that you had a great week. I did but I am worn out and ready for some downtime. The only things I want to go this weekend are eat and read.

Image from The Foodess

This beautiful and incredibly easy White Chocolate Mousse from the Foodess.is on my list of things to make. It cannot get any easier than a two ingredients mousse topped with berries in a graham cracker crust.  I would love to have a piece of this right now.

Image The Chunky Chef

Mexican food is a family favorite in our house and when I saw this picture on Pinterest yesterday I knew I would be making this soon.  As in today, this  Smothered Beef Barbaco Chimichanga is in my crockpot as you read this and we will be having it for dinner tonight. I can’t wait.

Image Bon Apetit

I love fruity, slushy, drinks and this Frose from Bon Appetit looks fabulous. I mean what is there not too love about rose wine, strawberry infused simple syrup and fresh squeezed lemon juice combined in a slushy drink?

I discovered a new blog this week called Luxe Adventure Travel. Although I have not had time to era all of there posts the ones I have read so far have me ready for an adventure.

Did you ever read Moby Dick or watch the recent movie In the Heart of the Sea which is supposed to be about it? I read Moby Dick eons ago and just watched the movie so I have whales on the brain. For those of you who are interested, this week New Bedford Whaling Museum released its digitized list of 127,000 sailors who set sail on whaling ships from 1809-1927. Just in case you always wondered if your ancestor was a deck hand or the captain of a vessel.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. If you have read a good book or made a new recipe please share!

Stay cool if you are in the areas covered by the heat index warnings.

That mousse pie looks like a great idea….just in time for guests arriving next week. There is much debate here in France between the two mousse camps: whipped cream vs. egg whites. I've made it both ways, but prefer the egg white version.

    Good morning Elizabeth!

Enjoy your Friday. Our weather has cooled off and fingers crossed, we'll have a dry weekend. We got socked with rain on Wednesday and it was UNREAL!

We are definitely making Frose this weekend!!! I already have it freezing! And, thanks for sharing the new travel blog – I hadn't seen it and now can't wait to check it out ("Adventure Travel with A Glass of Wine" – it MUST be good!) I have all three kids AND my mom here for the weekend! YAY! I hope you have a good weekend, Elizabeth! xoxo

Eat and Read! Sounds good to me!

And anything in a crock pot, does also….:-)

But VISIT France or Germany? Hardly! Not when one has read the daily news. Terrorism everywhere and anywhere.

Rio, the home of the Zika Virus?? Come on!

Cuba? Which harbours a cop killer, and does not have Liberty or Freedom, for its citizens????

Those people, who run that travel site, are living in another, alternate world. 🙁 But then, a lot of people are doing that, these days.

    Enjoy your weekend, at home.
