It’s a new year and for many that means working out and loosing weight. As I said I don’t make resolution but many do and I wish those of you that are using the start of the new year to kick off a new and healthier you good luck.
I personally believe that not every exercise is for every person, and by that I mean, not that you are unable to do it, but that you do not like it. If you do not like it often times you will not do it. So I think that you have to find the exercises that you like and do those. Then you will be successful at working out and getting healthier.
For instance two years ago I took up CrossFit and although I found it challenging and interesting it wasn’t my favorite form of exercise and therefore everyday was a struggle for me to go, so when my initial 6 months were over I stopped going.
What works for me is walking or running no less than 10,000 steps a day or, yoga and light weights. That is not to say that I am not open to other forms of exercise but this is what I do now. If I lived where it snowed I would be out on my snowshoes everyday.
As for eating, lets just say that I do not like to diet and I am not one for deprivation. The minute I “can’t” have something it is all that my mind thinks about. For the most part I try to eat a balanced diet but I do eat whatever I want. That said, I don’t eat whatever I want, which is usually grilled cheese, pizza or pasta, everyday. Typically I save that for Friday or Saturday. As for sweets, if you are a regular reader than you know that I bake a lot. My secret is that I only eat or keep the piece that I use for the photo shoot. The rest I share with friends.
So tell me, if you do not mind sharing, how do you stay healthy? Do you follow a certain diet, or eating plan, and what do you do for exercise? Are you a runner or walker, weightlifter, a yogi or perhaps you do Pilates or CrossFit?
At yoga a few days ago our wise yogi said this, “you do not need a new year to start over, you can start over a day from now, or even 1 minute from now, there is always the opportunity to change and be the person that you want to be.”
I hope that you have a fabulous day and a fabulous year!
