Friday Favorites from House Beautiful, The Pastry Affair, The Chunky Chef, Sugar Salt Magic and More

September 16, 2017 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 8 Comments

Good Friday to you! I hope that your week went well. I know for may readers in Florida and Texas things are not going too well. I wanted you to know that you are on our minds, in our hearts and prayers. We have not forgotten you.

I know that for many the temps are already falling and the mornings are crisp. My mom said that it already seems like Fall in the Mid-west. Here it is still hot but that does not mean that my thoughts are not on the important parts of fall. Comfort food! This Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff from Sugar Salt Magic looks like the perfect meal to come home to on a cold day.

Slow Cooker Chicken Chili from the Chunky Chef

As does this Slow Cooker White Chicken Chili from the Chunky Chef.

On a cold day I love carbs, especially bread. I could make a meal out of a hot loaf of bread straight from the oven slathered in butter. Sometimes though I do not have much luck with yeast bread. I am hoping that this delicious Fresh Herb Bread from The Pastry Affair turns out well because it everything that I like, crusty, soft and herby.

If you need a little chocolate to comfort you on a cold day, this Chocolate Cherry Filled Cake could be just the thing!

As the days are getting cooler it is the perfect time to hunker down and nest with your family and friends, here are 11 Classic Fall Movies to enjoy.

And 40 Fall Cocktails to enjoy while enjoying these movies.

I love the podcast "Hidden Brain," and they just did an episode on regrets. Fascinating. (Google Hidden Brain Podcast Regrets)
I also enjoy The Savvy Psychologist podcast. Very upbeat, positive, take-charge. Things you can do to overcome various problems.

I haven't had Kahlua in years! I used to love it in hot chocolate at night. I also made wheat bread with yeast when my girls were growing up.
