Thanksgiving Tablescape

Good morning! How was your weekend? Mine was great, my step-son is in the states this week and he flew down for the weekend to see his dad and I. It  was so nice to just relax, talk, and of course eat. My husband was in his element, grilling and of course I baked. Is there anything better than visiting your parents and have lots of home cooked meals of your favorite things? My mom is coming to visit soon for 2 weeks and I cannot wait for her to make some of my favorites.

I put together a little Thanksgiving tablescape for 2 this week just to tweak a few ideas and this one is my favorite so far. (NOTE: I do realize the flatware is in the wrong place.)

I started with 2 vintage plaid blankets which I decided to use in place of a tablecloth, I like the weight, texture and pattern. You could use a new throw or a vintage one whatever you have laying around the house will do. Play around with them, they look great simply placed down the middle of the table, on a diagonal or even layered as I have done.

Next, I added a wood handled plate, then placed my white everyday dinner plate on top followed by a colorful pheasant salad plate, with a “thankful” napkin tucked under it. I used my everyday flatware, and stemless wine glasses accompanied by water glasses.

I added a little pierced metal container from Target, and filled a cellophane treat bag with Fall M&M’s and then tied with with burlap twine, which the guests can take home after dinner. Once they eat the candy they can use the container for a candle holder, pencil holder or whatever else they like.

I added a vintage pheasant and an vintage ironstone pitcher which I filled with berries, and finally two candles for a little ambiance.

My table is a mix of new and collected pieces, things that we have found in our travels or that we inherited from family. A collected table is always beautiful.

Will you be hosting Thanksgiving? What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving tablescape? Do you pull out your family pieces? OR do you have something different in mind this year?

I am still playing around with this so any ideas, aside from the misplaces flatware, and more berries or flowers in the pitcher, are welcome.

Have a great day!

If you like this look you can find similar pieces below.

Love the plaid, Elizabeth. We will be in Arizona for Thanksgiving so I'll get a break from hosting, and my mom is a seasoned tablescaper so I'm sure it will be blogworthy. I tend to go simple, natural and white with our wedding china which is now "vintage!" 🙂
