Designing My Reading Nook

Good morning! How was your weekend? Mine was relaxing. As I have said countless times if it is cold I am inside nesting. I putter around, organize drawers and closets, weed out things to donate and relax in between.

Last March we had the master bedroom painted Indigo Batik and when we did I took out 3 chairs, art, and more and never put it back. The room is classic but minimal and although I like it there are one or two  corners that I would like to make into a reading corner. So this weekend I looked for a little inspiration on Pinterest, then put together a couple of ideas for my own corner.

I am contemplating either a grey chair or a blue velvet. I want to room to be dark and moody but I am not sure that I want a blue chair with dark blue walls.

The little corner must have a comfy chair, an ottoman, a light source, a table to hold my cocoa, a candle for ambiance and my stack of books, and I need a comfy throw!

As I said, I am at the beginning of my search so if you have any sources for comfy chairs do let me know.

I hope that you have a great day!

Second hand for chairs! Just get it recovered. You'll be doing the environment a favor.
One of my goals for this year is to learn to reupholster.

If you can find a good reupholstering shop, that's a good way to go.

We've just finished a virtual staging with a client who is putting their home on the market. One of the areas we created is a reading nook in the master bedroom. The ottoman is key to making it more than a "put your shoes on" chair. A small table and lighting a plus. When we recommend chair purchases to clients…we have one rule. Either ourselves or they need to have said we have sat in the same chair. If it's not comfy it's just another good looking piece of furniture. It should be both. Anxious to see your selections and nook come to life!-Laurel
