Friday Favorites from Candid Appetite, Paper & Stitch, A Cosy Kitchen, 1010 Park Place and More

May 13, 2018 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 4 Comments

Good morning! I hope that you had a good week. Sunday is Mother’s day, a day set aside to celebrate moms. Sadly I will not be spending the day with my mom but luckily she has my two sisters to spend the day with and let he know just how much she is loved.

Image from the Candid Appetite

Although the cool nights are long gone I think there is still a little time to for a steamy bowl of soup, especially one that combines two of my favorite things, French Onion Mac and Cheese Soup from Candid Appetite.

Grapefruit Cucumber Cooler from Paper & Stitch

I love fruity cocktails and I think this Grapefruit Cucumber Gin Cooler from Paper & Stitch looks like the perfect drink on a warm summer day.

Image a Cosy Kitchen

I love salad but I have to be honest I hate to make them, I do not like to cut up all of the veggies each day. This post, A week of salads, from A Cosy Kitchen might be able to persuade me to eat more of them at home.

I made these Magic Brownies this week and they are delicious!

Great Reads

Great article, Turning a Page in My life Meant Confronting My Piles of Books

Wants and Needs do you know the difference?

I LOVE this interview and photos of Jeremy Irons in his Irish castle. You will love the stories about his antiques, collections and remodeling of the castle.

I frequently write about “the little things” in life that I try to stop and appreciate, this article The Little Things in Life are the Ones that Matter the Most will hopefully encourage you to do the same.

Blogging is an interesting world because over the years you become attached to the bloggers, you know all about their families, pets, celebrations and heartache. Consequently, when they celebrate you celebrate, when they hurt you hurt for them. Yesterday Brenda of Cosy Little House , a blog that I have been reading longer than I have been blogging, lost her sweet girl Abi and I wanted to remember her today. Brenda, I am sorry for your loss Abi was so loved and she will be missed.

I hope that you found something interesting here this morning and if you found a recipe, book, podcast, movie or anything else please share it with us.

If you are lucky enough to be celebrating with your mom this weekend enjoy. If your mom is gone I hope that you savor your happy memories with her.

Have a great weekend.

The Jeremy Irons article is fascinating–thank you!!! I've always adored him. He is not conventionally handsome but oozes charm. The first photo reminds me of a shot of his character at the end of the movie "Damage" (which also has some great interiors). And I imagine his DIY skills were useful in the 1982 movie "Moonlighting," where he played an illegal Polish contractor renovating a house in London. Anyway, I love the shots of his home–real taste, real individuality.

Good morning Elizabeth….always nice to meet new blogging friends. I popped over to see Brenda…..and she is certainly in my thoughts. Our animals become such a part of our family, and when they pass it is truly so very sad.

    Have a wonderful day

This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg .
