Friday Favorites from Smitten Kitchen, Modern Honey, For the Love of Cooking, and more

June 24, 2018 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 4 Comments

Good morning! Happy summer and a happy Friday to you. Did you have a good week? My week has been great, I personally am happy to see summer finally arrive. Although I am not a fan of the humidity, it seems like summer has been a long time coming and I am not going to complain I am going to enjoy it for what it is.

I don’t know about you but I do not like to cook in the summer so I am always looking for easy and delicious meals to make. This Cucumber and Watermelon Salad from Smitten Kitchen is a perfect meal on a hot day.

Image Modern Honey

If you requite something a little more hardy than a salad for dinner this Pork Carnitas from Modern Honey is perfect, and the best part, it’s made in a crockpot!

For the Love of Cooking

Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer, add some strawberries and you have this thirst quenching Strawberry Lemonade Slush from For the Love of Cooking

Ice cream lovers, try this easy and delicious Andes Mint Candies Ice Cream.

I love this wall paper from Lulu and Georgia!

Fun things to do in Paris from Classic Casual Home if you have been before and do not want to revisit the major sites.

For podcast lovers here are a few suggestions that you may or may not have heard about from Joy the Baker.

This is a great Program that distributes leftover food to the people that need it instead of throwing it in the trash.

“Your betraying your whole life if you do not say what you are think and you don’t say it honestly and bluntly. “ Charles Krauthammer

Rest in peace Charles Krauthammer, we have lost a great man.

Tonight I am going to a dinner party at my Spanish friends, I am a little worried because it starts at 8:00 and could go until 5:00 am! Wish me luck that I can stay up until at least midnight!

What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you are doing I hope that you have a happy and safe weekend.

As always, please share your finds form this week, books, recipes, podcasts and more.

This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

So I am hunkering down and taking solace inside enjoying the details of a collected home and life. This tapestry is a piece that we purchased over 25 years ago in Paris, it hang in the dining room and makes me smile every time I see it because it reminds me of such a happy and beautiful place. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood
