Good morning! How was your weekend? I hope you started December with a bang and maybe attended your first holiday party? It was a busy one here, all of the gifts are wrapped and mailed and now I am ready to settle down, relax and enjoy the month of December. I plan on baking, attending a few parties and concerts, watching every one of my favorite Christmas movies and enjoying the season with family and friends. What about you?
If you are having a party I have an easy punch that I discovered years ago in Garden and Gun magazine that you might want to make.
Cranberry Bourbon Punch
Recipe from Adam Bernbach
Garden & Gun Oct/Nov 2014
8 Cinnamon sticks, toasted
1 750 ml bottle of bourbon
8 oz. granulated sugar
4 oz. ginger juice
4. oz. lemon juice
4 oz. unsweetened cranberry juice
6 oz Maderira
24 oz. sparkling water or soda water
Fresh grated nutmeg
2 Bunches fresh mint
2 12 oz. bags fresh cranberries
Place the toasted cinnamon stick in th bourbon and let them sit overnight. Strain the bourbon. Stir sugar into the juices(ginger, lemon, cranberry) until completely dissolved. Pour the juice/sugar blend, Madeira and cinnamon infused bourbon into a punch bowl. Top with sparking water and stir again. Top with fresh grated nutmeg, about a quarter of the whole nut.
To serve, place ice in a cup and ladle or pour in some punch. Garnish with cranberries. Makes about 25 servings.
Do you have a favorite cranberry cocktail or punch? If so, please share because I love cranberry juice and think it makes the best cocktail mixer.
Have a great day!
