Good morning, I do not want to alarm you but it is only 20 days until Christmas! Yikes! Where is the time going? To me and to many, it is the “most wonderful time of the year” unfortunately, if you let it is can also turn into the most stressful time of the year. The key to enjoying the holidays and not getting stressed it to take it easy, don’t overload your schedule and savor the little things.
I love all of the “little things” about Christmas, listening to Christmas carols in the car and singing along to my favorites, while doing errands. Baking special cookies and treats for friends and family, and eating a few as well. Time spent with family and friends, wether we are decorating, touring the town to see the Christmas lights, baking, watching holiday movies or just reading the the same room.
The minute I hope out of bed I turn on the fireplace and light a candle so that the smells of Christmas permeate the house. I love ending the day with a cup of cocoa or tea, sitting with the lights off enjoying the glow of my Christmas tree.
I peruse through my cookbooks, some new and some old favorites to find cakes, cookies and treats to make and to share. The flour dusting the counter and the smell of baking treats takes me right back to standing at my grandmothers side as we “helped” her bake cookies oh, so many years ago.
Concerts, light shows, Christmas movies are all wonderful ways to relax and decompress.
And of course, don’t forget the reason for the season.
I hope that you enjoy all that the season has to offer, as much or as little as you like. Remember, its ok to say no to parties, nights out and other things which will drain you and your spirit.
Have a great day.

Sounds like you truly enjoy the holidays in every way!

I am trying to remember your key things to avoid that overwhelmed stressful feeling. It's funny, but I did feel a little bit of panic when you said it was only 20 days away. One thing that always helps me is to remind myself that I can still bake more after Christmas, still do special things with people, still watch the Christmas movies I missed, after Christmas…well, you get the picture. No reason not to make Christmas last, right?
