Life Lately

July 25, 2019 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 17 Comments

Good morning. I hope that you survived the scorching heat this weekend. I am looking forward to a little respite from the heat and frankly from life. On July 11th we received a call that my father-in-law wasn’t doing well and would probably not make it until the weekend, less than an hour later he had passed away.  Soon after we received another call that my mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital. In a mad rush we packed our bags, canceled appointments, dropped the pups at camp and high tailed it to the Midwest. Since then we have laughed, cried, and shared countless stories,  we celebrated a wonderful life and spent hours at the bedside of my mother-in-law who thankfully is doing a lot better. We arrived home yesterday and now it is time to tackle the piles of mail and packages, get back to work and ready the house for guests arriving later this week.

I hope that you have a great day!

I'm thinking of you, and your husband, who has lost his father. But especially of your mother-in-law, who must be feeling so lost at this moment.

Elizabeth I'm so sorry to hear about the emotionally hectic-and I'm sure draining–weeks you've been going through. I know your in-laws have had struggles with health over the years but it sounds like your FIL's sudden demise was still a sudden surprise. I'm sorry for his loss and sad for your mother-in-law although it sounds like everyone came together to celebrate his life and his specialness in the world. My condolences to your husband too. I hope now that you're home you find time to relax and get your bearings again. I just wrote a post on loss and as I've been learning, it's so important that we allow ourselves to be with our feelings with an accepting heart. It's hard, I know.
I wish we lived closer I would love to show up on your doorstep for coffee and a long walk outdoors. Oh, and I would have to taste one of your amazing desserts.
    love to you dear friend.

Elizabeth I hope your mother in law is doing better and I am sorry for the loss of your father in law. We have been there and done that. All of our parents have passed. I am from the Midwest originally, Indiana…nicest people in the world!
