Just Curious…How is Your Summer?

Good morning. Summer is nearing an end, some of the schools here are already back in session and to many that signals the end of summer, so my question to you is how is your summer? What have you been doing? Have you been on any adventures? Road trips? Have you walked at the beach or hiked in the mountains? Have you been lucky enough to spend time with your family and friends? Did you grow a garden? Pick peaches? How many books did you read? Did you dance in the rain? Or catch some fireflies?

I have mentioned this before but over the last few years I am making a concerted effort to live in the present and enjoy each and every season in my life. Although summer is not my favorite season there are many things I enjoy about it and those are the things I have been doing this summer. In fact I wrote a bucket list at the beginning of summer and so far I have ticked off all of the things on my list.

I have been on several trips to Santa Fe New Mexico, Kansas City, Missouri, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland. I have read stacks of books while sitting almost every afternoon on my front porch with a lemonade or a cocktail. My mom and my niece came for a week and I took the time to enjoy a “staycation”. I walked in the sand, swam in the ocean, watched seagulls fly and dolphins frolic. I’ve eaten my pounds of peaches and cherries, corn on the cob and BBQ. I have enjoyed sunrises and sunsets, watched baby birds fly from their nests and fireflies illuminate the night.

To many these may seem like small and insignificant things but life is made of many small moments and my friends these is still time to get out there and enjoy them!

By the way, August 31st is Play Music on the Porch Day, a movement that was started by my cousin Brian Mallman. Please visit the Play Music on the Porch Day site to learn more.

Have a great day!

    Paris is adorable.

I'm working over the summer, but making time for myself. I have to attend a museum exhibit at some point in the next week or so before it closes.

This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

So I am hunkering down and taking solace inside enjoying the details of a collected home and life. This tapestry is a piece that we purchased over 25 years ago in Paris, it hang in the dining room and makes me smile every time I see it because it reminds me of such a happy and beautiful place. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood
