Good morning! How was your weekend? Were you lucky enough to get to the beach, out in the mountains to relax, to a BBQ or whatever else you like to do? I cannot believe it is September, it seems as if just yesterday we were talking about Spring.
I know that people read blogs to “escape”life, their own and the world around them but sometimes life is messy and at this point mine feels messy in more ways than one. Skip this post of you don’t want a little of my real life.
My weekend was a jumble of tasks and emotions. Our house is in a bit of a shambles because we are having a mudroom remodeled on one side of the house, and an en-suite bathroom on the other(in preparation of my MIL visiting for 3 weeks). Everything from the mudroom is in the family room and everything from the in-laws suite, is in the dinning and living room. Boxes of tile, a vanity, and tools are littering the dining and living room. At this point it seems as if the only rooms in the house that are clean and in order are on the second floor and the kitchen.
I feel a bit of an emotional wreck; yesterday afternoon, my good friend of 25 years called to give me some news about the illness that she has suffered from the last 2 years. I am hopeful, apprehensive, afraid and I want to jump on the next plane to be by her side. I have alternated between, worrying, crying, praying and everything in between.
For now we are preparing for a tropical storm that could tun into a hurricane, we are bracing ourselves for high winds and lots of rain, gathering supplies and hunkering down.
What about you? How is your week?

My gosh, things are not going well for you. I am sorry because you have been a friend. Your blog has given me pleasure and just last night, I made your peach and cheese salad again. I hope the storm passes you and everyone else by, and that your home tidies up and your friend finds health. As for me, I am recuperating from breast cancer. It has not gone well until recently. I saw my children and grandchildren over the weekend, went for a walk yesterday, and am surrounded by books waiting to be read. My bad time has passed. For you, "this too shall pass".

Same old, same old. Charlie just had his meds so needs to go out every few minutes. Didn't do anything all weekend but try to recover from the Shingles vaccine.

Good luck to you and all around you. Not just for Dorian but for health concerns and, well, everything.

It just about drives me crazy to be in the middle of a renovation project but of course it's wonderful after it's all over. I hope yours goes well and that you get to spend some time soon with your friend. I have sisters and my mother in Florida and am so happy the hurricane hasn't been as bad as it could have been there. Praying for friends in the Carolinas too.
Be safe!

I hope that things settle down for you and the storm passes you by.

Hang in there Elizabeth. I do think the remodeling and construction adds a certain amount of chaos that is hard because 'home' is where we hope to feel grounded and stable. I'm watching the weather and praying it passes you all.
