Good morning! Did you have a great week? I have been dragging all week, as I mentioned I am fighting a cold and I am simply worn out. I don’t cough all day but the minute I get into bed I have coughing fits so bad I cannot get any sleep. I cannot wait to just rest and relax this weekend .

Food

Image Simply Delicious

I am already getting my recipes ready for Christmas dinner and I think this Sticky Apricot Baked Ham from Simply Delicious might be a contender. You could also serve it at a holiday party or brunch.

Spanish Chicken Bake Here The Endless Meal

Spanish Chicken Bake from The Endless Meal is a great meal to prepare when you have a house full of family over the holidays.

Image

I have been baking cookies and candy all week. Today I will be making several batches of these Fruit and Nut Crackers from Always Order Dessert to accompany some cheese boards I will be making for friends.

The View From The Great Island

I cannot wait to make these Sugar Cookies from The View From The Great Island, they look beautiful and delicious.

Image Gimme Some Oven

A few weeks ago I made homemade Cranberry Cordials to give in gift baskets. This Cranberry Mulled Wine is another drink that you can make to give as well or just serve it at your parties or gatherings.

Books

The List: A Christmas Story (free on Kindle Unlimited).

Every year Molly visits her Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas. This year a surprise waits for her in the attic of her grandparent’s home at 1225 Evergreen Lane. An old leather-bound book, a bright red coat with furry white cuffs, and a secret that has never been shared, . . .  until now. Molly is old enough to be in on the secret, and Grandpa needs her help this Christmas.

When Molly falls asleep during one of Grandpa’s stories, her eyes open to a magical world.  Santa needs one more reindeer to join his sleigh’s team. He and the elves want a young reindeer named Socks, but she is afraid to fly. And time is running out.

Join Molly and Socks as they learn to believe in themselves. Their friendship helps each be brave when it matters most. But can they save Christmas? And when Molly wakes in her grandfather’s arms, was any of it real?

The Broken Ornament

Jack wants this to be the best Christmas ever, and he knows just how to make it happen…

More! More lights, more presents, more cookies, more treats. More. More. More! So, when Jack breaks a dusty old ornament, he’s not sure why his mom is so upset. They can always get more ornaments, so what’s the big deal? Turns out the ornament was an heirloom, precious for more reasons than one. And Jack has a lot to learn about the true meaning of Christmas.

A fairy emerges from the shattered ornament. She has the power to make the most magical Christmasy things happen. Suddenly trees are sprouting, reindeer are flying, and snowmen are snowball fighting. All of it is so perfect, or it would be if she could fix Mom’s ornament. But she can’t.

So it’s up to Jack to make some Christmas magic of his own.

Dasher

Dasher is an adventurous young reindeer with a wish in her heart. She spends her days with her family under the hot sun in a traveling circus, but she longs for a different life — one where there is snow beneath her hooves and the North Star above her head. One day, when the opportunity arises, Dasher seizes her destiny and takes off in pursuit of the life she wants to live. It’s not long before she meets a nice man in a red suit with a horse-drawn sleigh — a man named Santa. And soon, with the help of a powerful Christmas wish, nothing will be the same.

The Mouse in the Hammock A Christmas Tale(Free on Kindle Unlimited.

In this book, a little mouse who sleeps in a Christmas Tree hammock scurries around the house at night doing good deeds to prepare the house for Christmas.

Good deeds include, tucking Baby Jesus into the manger, cooling off the hot cocoa for Santa, taste testing the cookies, hanging the mistletoe.

Mouse is setting the example for children that you don’t have to be big to do kind deeds and help others.

Little Mouse Lost At Christmas

A classic heart-warming story for Christmas. In this gentle rhyming tale, a lost little mouse finds the greatest Christmas gifts of all: love, friendship and family. The beautiful illustrations with their humorous details and wonderful atmosphere will captivate readers young and old. A lovely Christmas picture book to share with all the family.

Sorry you're under the weather. Try adding a pillow or two when you sleep–the incline might help deal with post-nasal drip, which might be what's making you cough when you lie down.

Charlie coughs a lot more when he's lying down. Seems to be normal to need to cough more when in bed for some reason. Feel better soon.
