Good morning! How is your week? It has been a busy one here. Technically it is still winter but yesterday I saw my first daffodils. A welcome sign of Spring and perhaps a signal that Punxsutawney Phil was right, Spring is right around the corner. The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, that may not mean much to many but in my house it was cause for celebration. My husband is a life long fan and he has been waiting 50 years to see them again in the Super Bowl. Although football is not my thing it was fun to watch and see him so excited, almost like watching a kid. The January blues have passed and I have my energy back, I’m up every morning and back at yoga and some mornings I manage to get in a 3 mile walk as well. Other days I find myself at the gym in the afternoons taking a walk on the treadmill. I am not a competitive person by nature, but the treadmills at the gym allow you to “walk” and “run” with other people from around the world and lately I have found myself outrunning every person I “see” on the trail, I cannot stand to see someone ahead of me. Consequently I am running faster and longer than normal. This year I am also making major changes in my diet, as I age I have been having a lot of issues with gluten(bread, pasta, crackers, etc) and dairy. and I have had to cut back or completely eliminate it from my diet. That said, I still bake so you will see sweet treats here and occasionally I still eat all of that stuff, I suffer a bit the next day but I am not willing to totally cut it out yet. Have any of you had problems with food as you age? I am gearing up for some adventures and other life changes this year, it is too soon to talk about them now but I will let you know when things happen.
