Good morning, how are you? These are uncertain times to say the least, there is so much unknown and things change not day by day but sometimes hour by hour. I am trying to find a balance between keeping myself informed and staying away from the news and even social media.
Each day it seems like we are waking up to a new reality. No visiting our elderly relatives in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, kids out of school, an absence of some supplies at the store, some towns now have quarantines.
I am planning on staying home for the next 2 weeks(or until something changes) unless I have to leave the house for supplies. I have no reason to go anywhere so I am going to take advantage of that and keep my husband and I as safe as we can be.
I know that everyone is probably tired of reading about the virus, but this is our new reality for now. I will not post about it everyday but it is nice to be able to sound off and “talk” to all of you. Please share your coping techniques, your concerns, favorite recipes, what you are doing to stay busy or whatever else you feel like sharing.
Stay safe, and have a good day.

Everything is closed/canceled in France. It feels like Sunday every day. No cars on the road this morning. In a way it's nice–I just hear the birds.
I keep hearing stories that show why it had to come to this. A friend who is an eye doctor had a patient who was coughing violently. The doctor asked the patient to put on a mask; the patient refused, saying it was just bronchitis. As if the staff and other patients in the waiting room wanted bronchitis! I also know people who took Tylenol before flying to make sure they would pass any fever test. If people who were sick would stay home, that would help a lot. And sick with anything–bronchitis lady's immune system is obviously stressed and she's more susceptible to catching something else.
But people don't stay home, and they don't cover their mouths when coughing or wash their hands frequently. And so everything must close.
At least the weather is nice, so we can garden and go for walks. It would be worse if we were stuck inside.
COOKING AND READING.I really should be CLEANING!!!
GETTING A BIT ANXIOUS………

Uncertain is an understatement.
Yes, it's quite eerie when one heads out now. I had to drive into town for my 5-week hair appt, this morning – I refuse to be seen with grey roots if I become ill, or worse!!!! There was so little traffic – it was like being back in the good old days when driving was a pleasure and fun. School system closed, restaurants beginning to close, all public gathering places locking down. I know it will get worse but feel prepared regarding food without being overstocked. Did buy another bag of bread flour today so I can at least bake a loaf enjoy 'the staff of life' if the bakeries close!
Stay safe and well Elizabeth.
I'm baking a mushroom and spinach quiche today, and a large pot of black bean chili – much of which will be frozen in individual bags if needed to fill the gaps later.
Tomorrow baking lots of healthy muffins – oh my, I feel the pounds creeping back and may have to run up and down the driveway a lot if/when old people like Bob and I are quarantined!

Yes, we are OK here with food and supplies for about 2 weeks. After that, who knows? We are lucky that we can text, email, phone, chat, or blog… so communication is available. Since we are over 65 and DH is going through radiation at the moment, we are self-isolating, but because of this, we don't get to see our young grand daughter these days. But hopefully all this won't last too long. If we can follow all the CDC recommendations, we should be able to flatten the curve. Hope springs eternal…
