Good morning friends. How was your weekend? It was hot and steamy here, busy but relaxing. We didn’t go to the beach or out on our boards but between doing all of the things we needed to get done there were lazy hours to relax and read.
I’ve never had my own garden and these past three weeks tending to my neighbors has been a joy. Every other day my husband and I go over and weed, tie up plants and of course pick vegetables. It makes me smile when I see the little red tomato orbs weighing down the branches, and the pumpkins slowly turning orange. There are now 8 pumpkins, 3 are orange and the rest are various shades of green. It seems a little early for orange pumpkins, I hope they last until October.
I finished reading Quattrocento and it is a fabulous book if you enjoy Italian art, a beautiful love story and time travel.
In addition to nightly Zoom yoga with my sister and my mother we have added a weekly, self-care call and Friday cocktail hour. It is nothing like seeing or talking to them in person but it is a balm to the soul.
In addition to all of the tomatoes I’ve been eating I’ve been eating just as many peaches. Peaches always make me happy, just the smell takes me back to summer days as a child when my family would go peach picking. We would pile in my aunts van and drive to Michigan where we would spend hours picking and eating peaches. There is nothing like a warm peach plucked from the tree, the fuzz tickling your lips and the juices dripping down your arm.
And last but not least, this sweet little one who likes to keep me company reading while her sister chases lizards on the porch.
What is bringing you joy and happiness lately? Please share the little or big things that have brought you happiness this week.
Have a great day!

Things that are making me happy right now: Zoom calls with family and friends are def. a source of happiness, reading a good book, nightly cocktail hour, reading my favorite blogs.
My pet babies make me happy. I'd love to see a photo of the pumpkins you mentioned.

Sounds like the perfect weekend! And that book is the art world's response to Outlander!
A lot of time spent indoors because it is just too hot and buggy to be outside most of the day. I walked outdoors and immediately 5 mosquitos landed on my legs…those were the 5 I saw. I came in with 4 itchy spots!
