Good morning friends! I hit the ground running when I arrived home and this weekend is going to be very busy as well. This week more landscaping was torn out, the yard was aerated, seeded and fertilized. We are still waiting on the skirting for the deck, the fire pit and the stain, all are backordered because of Covid-19. Although it is frustrating it is what it is, frankly we aren’t going anywhere so it is not a huge inconvenience.
I have lots of fall comfort food, halloween desserts, books, articles and more to share with you this week. I hope that you find something that you enjoy.
Food
I cannot wait to make this Italian Wedding Soup from Aberdeen Kitchen.
I love slow cooked pasta sauces and this Rich and Tender Pork Ragu Pasta from Kitchen Sanctuary looks so delicious I think I could eat the entire pot!
This steak and gravy from The Tipsy Housewife looks like the ultimate weekend comfort food!
Chocolate Mummy Cake is an easy and fun Halloween cake to make with the kids or grandkids. Now that we are spending more time at home it might be fun to make cake and bake with the kids for Halloween.
I already think I make the best sugar cookies but I am open to trying new things so I will be making these Easy Cut Out Sugar Cookies from Brown Eyed Baker.
Halloween Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes are another easy Halloween dessert to make with kids, and grandkids. What could be better to a child than cupcakes, frosting, sprinkles or colored sugar and tootsie rolls for stems!

Books
Imogen Hermes Gowar, Britain’s most-heralded new literary talent, makes her debut with this spellbinding novel of a merchant, a mermaid, and a madam—an unforgettable confection that explores obsession, wonder, and the deepest desires of the heart with bawdy wit, intrigue, and a touch of magic.
As with all astounding novels, The Shadow of the Wind sends the mind groping for comparisons —The Crimson Petal and the White? The novels of Arturo Pérez-Reverte? Of Victor Hugo? Love in the Time of Cholera?—but in the end, as with all astounding novels, no comparison can suffice. As one leading Spanish reviewer wrote, “The originality of Ruiz Zafón’s voice is bombproof and displays a diabolical talent. The Shadow of the Wind announces a phenomenon in Spanish literature.” An uncannily absorbing historical mystery, a heart-piercing romance, and a moving homage to the mystical power of books, The Shadow of the Wind is a triumph of the storyteller’s art.
I, Coriander, I just ordered this for my niece on the recommendation of a friend.
In this exceptionally well-crafted tale, Coriander tells the story of her childhood in seventeenth-century London—and of her discovery that she has inherited magical powers from her mother, who was a fairy princess. But her mother’s sudden death brings on a dark time for Coriander. And after mourning her beloved mother and dealing with the disappearance of her father and the wrath of her evil stepmother, Coriander finds herself locked in a chest with no hope of escape and no will to survive. But when a bright light beckons to her, it is then that Coriander’s journey truly begins. Beautifully written, this magical and luminous story is destined to become a children’s classic.
Scandalous Women tells the stories of the risk takers who have flouted convention, beaten the odds, and determined the course of world events.

Love the wooden cake stand. I've looked at them but they're usually pricey. I am hungry now that I saw you steak and also the pasta dish.
