Gardening season is almost over but my herbs are still going strong so I have been looking for recipes to preserve them for the winter. A few weeks ago I posted about drying herbs and making basil walnut pesto, today I thought I would share a spicy herb sauce that I found in Real Simple magazine magazine. This recipe is perfect served over grilled meat, served over eggs, as a dipping sauce and more.
Spiced Herb Sauce
Recipe from Real Simple (Makes 13/4 cups 2 Tbsp serving)
5 cups tender fresh herbs, such as basil, cilantro, and/or parsley, stems removed
2 Tablespoons woody fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme and or sage
1/2 cup chopped jalapeño peppers, seeded if desired
2 cloves garlic, smashed and peeled
1 cup of grapeseed oil or avocado oil
1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
Combine tender and woody herbs, jalapeños and garlic in a food processor. Pulse, scraping down the side occasionally, until finely chopped. With the motor running slowly add oil. Add lemon(or lime) juice and salt and pulse to combine.
I hope you try this spicy and delicious sauce it is the perfect way to use your herbs and a new addition to your dinner.
If you missed you can also try my Basil Walnut Pesto.
