Good morning friends, although it is Autumn there are days it still feels like summer. The weather runs the gamut from 89-60, we still have the air conditioner on. But as I walk in the morning and spy the subtle changes in the colors on the trees, and hear the crunch of the leaves under my feet it is apparent it is Autumn.
I’ve been making lots of soups, chili, pastas with crispy sage and brown butter, apple and cranberry crisps and drinking lots of warm comforting cups of hot chocolate and tea.
Pumpkin and pumpkin spice has been making a regular appearance as well; breads, bars, pies, latte, soups and more. I could eat pumpkin every day over the next 6 months and never tire of it.
Our outdoor projects are almost complete and I am looking forward to enjoying what seems to have been a “construction zone” for months. We are drawing up plans for our herb garden, and raised beds we want to plant next year. I’ve never had a garden before and I am looking froward to it.
I also have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. Everyday more and more recipes, sales and decorating ideas flood my in-box and I am getting more and more excited to start baking, wrapping and decorating my own house. On Instagram a friend posted yesterday that she has her tree up, undecorated but lit just to bring cheer to her day. I already have plans to put up a few trees on my birthday, I will keep you posted.
That is it for this week, what things are making you happy? Whatever they are please share!
Have a wonderful week.
