Good morning friends, another Friday is upon us and that mean that we are getting closer to “the best time of the year”, the holidays, which for me is all about decorating and baking! I cannot wait. This year I decided that instead of sending treats at Christmas I am going to be baking and sending “treat boxes” during the month of November the month of thanks. I want to “thank” my family and friends for being a part of my life and making it so wonderful. Anyway, more on that later!

Here is what I found to share with you this week.

Food

Pumpkin Blue Cheese Macaroni

The ultimate in comfort food, Pumpkin Blue Brie Cheese Macaroni and Cheese.

Easy Fall Pizza from Broma Bakery, Yummy!

Swedish Meatballs from What’s Gabby Cooking.

Moroccan Vegetable Stew from Food.com

This Carrot Cake Won The Kitchn Smackdown and beat out The Barefoot Contessa! I cannot wait to make it for my birthday.

Books

Books

Love & Madness

In eighteenth-century England the aristocracy dominated the imagination, their exploits — and misdeeds — discussed, debated, and gossiped about in the salons and parlors of London. Now author Martin Levy vividly re-creates one of the most shocking and scandalous events of the period, in a riveting true tale of passion, obsession, murder, and courtroom drama.

Book

The Long Weekend

From an acclaimed social and architectural historian, the tumultuous, scandalous, glitzy, and glamorous history of English country houses and high society during the interwar period.

Greenlights

From the Academy Award®–winning actor, an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction.

Book

Every Last Cockoo

“Kate Maloy’s remarkable heroine [is] a woman so passionate, so intelligent, and so full of life that most readers will quickly forget that she happens to be in her seventies. This is a wonderful debut.” —Margot Livesey, author of The Missing World.

Book

A Christmas Treasury

I love the tradition of opening one Christmas book every day for 25 days before Christmas, especially with your kids. I’m starting to share a few of my favorites in case you want to start this tradition with your family.

Finds

Everyone needs a whimsical gnome to guard their house and bring good luck at the holidays.

Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women? Ladies if you don’t take care of yourself no one else can, eat right and get moving, cardio vascular exercise is great for your heart! This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray

Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood

“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” ~ “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” ~Percy Bysshe Shelly my answer to that is I hope not! This has been a strange winter and I am sure that for the 4 million people without power in19 states they are hoping spring is sooner rather than later. I hope that you are all well and keeping safe.
