“It’s the little things that bring the most happiness.”
Good morning friends! Did you have a nice weekend, how was your Halloween? Did you have many trick or treaters? We did not have any, it wasn’t a surprise and the reason why I really did not buy too much candy, in the 12 years we have lived here we have only had 2 children come to the door. I think it is because we live on a dark cul de sac. No matter, I am already on to the next holiday…Christmas!
I know, I know there is still Thanksgiving to celebrate and I absolutely will be celebrating that but I have moved onto Christmas. Yesterday, I spent the day looking through my boxes of Christmas ornaments, reminiscing about where and who I was with when I got the ornaments and decorations. I am not sure if we are going to put up a large Christmas tree this year, there are too many temptations for our pup Patches. I do not want her getting electrocuted or munching on my glass ornaments.
Yesterday we turned back the clocks for day light savings, and I could not be happier. I love this time of the year, I know many do not like it, but I do. I think it is because I love being cosy at home. Perhaps I am like a bear getting ready to hibernate. I have my stacks of books and my British shelter magazines from years past for inspiration and recipes. I also have my plaid throws in a basket next to the couch ready for cold winter mornings and evenings.
I am looking forward to this month of gratitude and thanksgiving and have many plans to show my gratitude and thanks to all of the people in my life. I will share my ideas with you later this week just in case you want to do the same.
These next two months are my absolute favorite time of the whole year, I smile just thinking about the infectious cheer and happiness the permeates every day. Shopping for books and gifts, baking copious amounts of treats for family and friends. Spending long evenings watching The Holiday(on repeat), White Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty and of course The Hallmark Channel and 25 Days of Christmas on Freeform.
These are just of few of the things bringing me joy and making me happy this week, what is making you happy lately? Please share!
Have a wonderful day friends.

We were wondering whether to get a big Christmas tree this year also. It'll just be the 3 of us… family will be Skyping or Zooming Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. And we usually get a big real tree for the cats to enjoy – but now that Ghost is gone… (she really loved to hide under the tree or play with the lower ornaments which were put there just for her).
And now that you mentioned it, I will miss the Hallmark channel… love their Christmas movies!
Rian, thank you for visiting! IT is going to be different this year for us as well, just my husband and I and our three pups. It makes me lonely just typing this comment. But the reunion will be all the more sweet. Have a wonderful day.
