The little things bring the most happiness. Sharing some of the little things that have brought a smile to my face and happiness to my life.
Good Monday morning to you! How was your weekend? It was 75 and beautiful here, unfortunately, we were inside all weekend. My husband had food poisoning so I watched the pups and did the best I could to help my husband recuperate. Thankfully he is feeling a lot better.
I could not be happier, I started decorating for Christmas. The trees only have their lights on them but every morning when I wake up the rooms are lit softly by their glow. I set them all on timers and it makes the dark mornings cosy. This week I will begin decorating them. One will be decorated with all of the ornaments that my husband and I have collected over the years, as well as the ones I have from childhood. Another is going to be decorated will all dachshund ornaments, every year for the past 17 years my dad, siblings and various relatives have given me ornaments resembling my dogs and I now have an entire tree covered in them. My husband wants the tree in his office to be patriotic and the one in the keeping room is going to have all hand made decorations. I dried the oranges last week, strung the popcorn this weekend and I will be making cinnamon ornaments this week.
November is the month of Thanksgiving and I am making a point of practicing 30 days of gratitude. Normally, I keep a journal and make a point of writing 3 things daily that I am grateful for but this is something a little different. I printed out the prompts from Calm and am doing the daily challenges, which “invite you to pause and take a moment each day to be grateful.”
I started wrapping my Christmas presents and if I may offer a word of advice, make sure to get your packages shipped early, both Fed-ex and UPS are already overburdened.
And last but not least, I wrote out my list of candy, cookies and sweet danish that I will be making for my Thanksgiving and Christmas gift boxes and soon will start baking! I cannot wait.
What has made you happy lately? Do share the little or big things that have made you smile.
Have a great day!
