“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things.”
Good morning friends, how was your weekend? It was a perfect Fall weekend, cool, crisp, sunny and beautiful. The pups and I spent a lot of time outside, in the mornings I went for long walks and in the afternoon they played in the leaves and chased one another around. Patches is doing her best to keep up and to make friends with her sisters; Pisa is still resisting her overtures but Paris takes every opportunity to play so at least she isn’t lonely.
We’ve been making and eating soups and salads filled with squash and other bounty from the Fall harvest.
Fall seems like such a short time and I have been savoring my early walks; the wind blowing thru the trees and walking under the rain of leaves, their crunch under my feet.
This is the month of “Thanksgiving” and I have been taking the time to thank one person in my life each day either in an email or a note or verbally for all they do for me and my life.
I have finished decorating for Christmas. I made cinnamon ornaments, strung cranberries, and baked oranges, it was not only fun but therapeutic and relaxing. This week I started wrapping my Christmas presents, I still have a few to buy or make but I am almost finished. I want to get them shipped in the next few weeks so that they will arrive by Christmas. I’ve been listening to The Christmas Carol and a few other holiday books during the day along with Christmas music in the car and on the stereo.
I am looking forward to spending the evenings watching holiday movies and escaping to winter wonderlands.
I cannot wait to start baking cookies, making marshmallows, and Christmas cakes. I won’t be able to go to any cookie exchanges this year but I am going to be in a few virtual ones, I will let you know when so that you can see all of the other scrumptious cookies.
I have a busy week but will be making time for a yoga workshop and a a Zoom cocktail hour.
I hope that you have a great week, be safe.

Happy Monday, Elizabeth! Patches is the sweetest! What a lovely and thoughtful gesture to thank those you are important to you throughout the month. I'm thinking about my Christmas decorations this week … and feeling a little overwhelmed. You're so ahead of the game! xo
Happy Decorating!
This year especially, starting the holidays is a blessing. I hope they continue into January. Your dog Patches has a lovely face, charming and adorable.
The plaid J.Crew socks are sold out, sigh, but a pair of Christmas light socks are on sale!
I haven't started decorating yet. It's going to be low key. My back is terrible right now and I just can't get that big tree down.
Brenda
Another delightful Patches portrait – she is so striking, and those eyes!
Your pre-Christmas projects make me feel useless – I've yet to get the spirit, or the strength, to clamber over boxes in the attic! Perhaps after Thanksgiving when hopefully there will be Christmas tree lots and the smell of pine in the air!
Oh Patches. What a doll.
I so enjoyed this snapshot of your life. Early walks, daily offerings of gratitude, cooking and even yoga and a boozy Zoom call? I love it!! This will be the year I make homemade marshmallows too, you've inspired me!!
xo
