Chocolate covered Christmas Oreo’s an easy and delicious “homemade” treat to make for family and friends.
Good morning friends, how are you? I was thinking today as I was perusing the list of sweet treats that I still want to bake for the holidays( Buche de Noel, a pumpkin pie, and Bear Claws to name just a few) that there are many people who do not like to bake,or that don’t have time to bake but that still like sweet treats. So I thought I would share one of my grandkids favorite things that I ‘bake”, chocolate covered Oreo’s. I make chocolate dipped or chocolate covered Oreo’s for every holiday, sometimes dark chocolate, sometimes white chocolate, sometimes with sprinkles, colored sugar or holiday candies.
The good news about chocolate covered Oreo’s or other cookies is that you can’t burn them, you can be creative and decorate them any way you like and your family and friends will love them! You can use your favorite chocolate, or melting wafers, and you can use melted chocolate chips as well.
Gather your supplies and get the kids or grandkids involved as well, then they can wrap up the treat and gift them to neighbors and family.
Chocolate Covered Christmas Oreo’s
Ingredients
1. Oreo’s, Nutter Butter Sandwich Cookies, or cookies of your choice
2. Chocolate chips, melting wafers, or almond bark
3. Decorations: red sugar, green sugar, colored sprinkles, alphabet sprinkles. You can also use M&M’s, or other holiday candy.
Directions
1. Melt the chocolate according to the directions on the package, be careful not to burn the chocolate.
2. Dip the Oreo’s into the melted chocolate using a fork to flip it in the chocolate and to tap the excess chocolate off. Place the chocolate covered Oreo on a baking sheet lined with a silicon baking mat and sprinkle with whatever decorations you like.
3. Place dipped cookies into the refrigerator of 10 minutes to set.
4. Once chocolate is firm, enjoy! Or place them into boxes or cellophane bags tied with ribbon to gift to family and friends.
Kids love making these, just be sure that an adult melts the chocolate and if doing it on the stovetop the kids stay far away from the simmering water.
If you don’t feel like making chocolate covered Oreo’s you could purchase all sorts of holiday cookies and candies and make an over the top Candy-Cookie Board.
What are you making, or baking at your house? I love to learn new recipes so please share.
Have a great day!

Looks good!
