Good morning friends! How are you? How was your week? I have been running from morning til’ night and I felt as if I could not catch up on anything. I am not sure if I tried to do too much or if I was just putting too much pressure on myself to get accomplish too many things, in any case I am ready for the weekend. I have lots to share with you this week so get yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy.

Food

Cranberry Almond Cake

If you are looking for a delicious cake to make over the holidays this Cranberry Almond Bundt Cake is easy and delicious.

I love sugar cookies and frankly the reason I do not make them more often is because I make a huge mess in the kitchen, this year I will be making No-fuss Sugar Cookies from Smitten Kitchen, Deb always has the best recipes and everyone that I have made has been delicious.

These Sage Scented Shortbread Cookies sound like an interesting twist on traditional shortbread.

I am making this recipe for Sausage Stuffed Acorn Squash from Savor the Best for dinner tomorrow.

If you make the cookies above you might want to make this Winter Pasta with Mushrooms, Sausage, Walnuts and Crispy Sage.

Books

I love this book and read it every year! The Autobiography of Santa

This Christmas classic combines solid historical fact with glorious legend to deliver the definitive story of Santa Claus. For anyone who has ever wondered, you’re right to believe in him!

In this “book that deserves classic status” (The Dallas Morning News) Santa reveals his story for the first time. Nicholas (his real name) was born in the Middle Eastern Country of Lycia to wealthy parents who died when he was young. The kind people of Lycia taught him the lessons of goodness and generosity, which he began to practice as a child by sharing wealth with those in need. As a young man, Nicholas realized he possessed special abilities to distribute his presents to deserving children everywhere. And so it was that Santa broadened his gift-giving and spread his message to many others who also valued his belief in the goodness of giving.

Book

Terrain, a great Christmas gift and a beautiful book.

Founded in a historic nursery in southeast Pennsylvania, Terrain is a nationally renowned garden, home, and lifestyle brand with an entirely fresh approach to living with nature. It’s an approach that bridges the gap between home and garden, the indoors and the outdoors. An approach that embraces decorating with plants and inviting the garden into every living space.

I cannot wait to get my copy of The Great British Baking Show: Love to Bake! It is available to preorder and a release date of December 20th.  If you are looking for a great cookbook to give for Christmas, look no further than this book, it is one of my all time favorite cookbooks.

Grief is just love with no place to go.” Thank y Grief is just love with no place to go.” Thank you my friends for all of your kind messages, thoughts and prayers. This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life This is how I feel tonight, as if I am seeing life through the blur of tears and sorrow. Sunday night my friend of 34 years lost her husband of 36 years, because of Covid he did not get to meet or hold his newborn grandson. Then just an hour ago we received a call that my husbands best friend died of a massive heart attack this morning. Sometimes life just knocks you to your knees and all you can do is pray for the loved ones you’ve lost, cherish their memories and let your time with them sustain you until you meet again. Then you ask God for the strength to get up and move forward. #life #loss #givemestrength #givemestrengthlord #pray
Although I see signs of spring, a daffodil popping Although I see signs of spring, a daffodil popping up from the ground, bright and colorful flowers in the garden center the weather and the calendar tell me otherwise. So I am hunkering down and taking solace inside enjoying the details of a collected home and life. This tapestry is a piece that we purchased over 25 years ago in Paris, it hang in the dining room and makes me smile every time I see it because it reminds me of such a happy and beautiful place. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. Good afternoon friends, it’s a frigid day here. How is it in your “neck of the woods?” We took a long road-trip a few weeks ago to the beautiful @colonialwmsburg . I love this place, there is so much to see and do and even wearing masks and social distancing you can still enjoy the history and the beauty of this living museum. Today I am home doing the weekend chores, and of course doing a little baking. I hope that you have a fabulous weekend. #colonialwilliamsburg #williamsburg #colonialhouse #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #museum #winterfun #roadtrip #wanderlust #weekend #weekendvibes #weekendmood
