Good Monday morning friends, how are you? I am relishing this special time between Christmas and New Years, it is sort of a magical week, life seems in limbo. I like to take this week off and relax, regroup and get ready for the new year to come. It is the 12 days of Christmas as well and most celebrate the 6th of January with the Feast of the Three Kings. My family always called it “Little Christmas” and celebrated the end of the holidays and typically that was the day we took the family tree down.
I will be leaving my tree up a little longer this year because it makes me happy. It seems like it is going to be a L-O-N-G winter and with no end in site for the lock-down/shelter in place I am taking pleasure in all of the little things that I like and enjoy. I have piles of books thatI received for Christmas and I am looking forward to reading them over the coming weeks as well as a few new magazine subscriptions.
Christmas was nice and relaxing. On Christmas eve we watched our favorite Christmas movies, laughed and shared our favorite Christmas memories and made a delicious dinner. Christmas day was more of the same, presents, holiday music and movies and a day in the kitchen.
I am not sure what the New Year will bring, it has been well over 275 days since we started to shelter in place and the goal post keeps moving. For me, life hasn’t changed much except that my husband it no longer traveling for work and that has been great. I am praying that the vaccinations will be just what we need so that we can all get back to work, school, traveling, and all of the things that we have missed. My heart goes out to all who have lost loved and to all who are suffering because of the pandemic.
What is making you happy lately? What are your plans for winter and the new year? It is hard to make plans when everything is as it is but perhaps this is the time to continue to work on things at home? Or to take more classes online? Whatever you do I hope that you stay safe and well.
Have a great day!
