The Happiness Report No. 28

Good morning friends, how was your weekend? It was a cold but beautiful and relaxing weekend here. Sadly, no snow but I am not giving up hope that this winter we might see a measurable amount, I want to have a snow day. My husband was experimenting in the kitchen all weekend making pozole(a Mexican stew with hominy, chicken and pork), charro beans, tortilla, and a few other things so I did not have to cook one meal all weekend. This left me with lots of time to make a few Valentine’s Day  treats to send to family and friends.

I am excited because my mother is getting the Covid-19 vaccination this week, as are many of my older aunts and uncles, and my dad and step-mother are on the list at their doctors’ office. My mother-in-law who is 93 was vaccinated last week. I am hoping that soon all of the people that I love will be vaccinated. Knowing that they are vaccinated seems to make the situation seem less stressful and makes me happy to think that soon my mom will be able come to visit! I cannot wait.

I’ve been spending time “traveling” lately, to Versailles, France to see the first snowfall of the season, to Paris, Madrid and London via WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram texting and talking to friends and it always makes me smile to see so many of my favorite places.

I love snail mail, and I am always happy when my favorite magazine  The English Home arrives, there is something special that catches my eye in every issue, a quaint cottage that I dream about buying, a recipe or a piece of art or tableware that I then try to find a source for here. I also subscribe to several other British magazines on my Kindle, they just seem so much more interesting than some of the magazines here, don’t get me wrong, I love Milieu and Traditional Home but other than those two I don’t find too much in the other magazines I subscribe to. Do you have any favorite magazines?

Are you a fan of Sandra Sallin? She is an 80 year old blogger, and artist and is making Instagram enjoyable again. Every time her beautiful, smiling face shows up in my feed I find myself smiling, her energy is infections and frankly she is hilarious, she does make-up tutorials and last week she did a Reel to the song “Jump.”

This is just a few of the things making me happy this week, but let me ask you, what is making you happy? A new book, a find, time with nature? Share you happy!

Have a great week and stay safe my friends.
