Welcome to the new and improved, but not yet finished Pinecone & Acorns blog. I began blogging in 2011, which seems like a lifetime ago, as a place to share my everyday life with my family and friends. After a few months strangers began to read my blog as well and now all of these years later I am blessed to say that many of those strangers have become friends. I have shared the ups and downs of life, old pets, new pets, holidays, recipes, books and so much more and that is not going to change. I will continue to post about those topics and perhaps a few new ones as well. If this last year has taught me anything it is that we have one life and it is meant to be lived and shared. This new space is my place to do just that, who knows, you might even see more of me, my everyday life, my wellness routine and dare I say “Fashion over 50.”
I am still “mad for plaid”, hot chocolate, Fall, the latest novel and of course my pups. The one thing that will never change here is finding and sharing the beauty in everyday life.
WordPress is a completely new and foreign platform to me so please bear with me as I figure things out, I am bound to make a few mistakes, ( like how to change the font size), at the same time please feel free to offer tips if you know of shortcuts or “plugins” that you find helpful or that I might need. You can also let me know if there is something you liked about the old blog that you want to see more of or if there is something new you would like to see here. I welcome all suggestions, I cannot promise to do them but I do value your opinions.
Thank you for reading and following along with me for all of these years, hopefully we will share many more here in my new “home.”
Welcome to WP–I have a basic, free, page on it and like it. I haven’t posted in a long time.
I loved the envelope image you used to announce your move. Wishing you success as you noodle around to figure stuff out!
It’s beautiful, Elizabeth! Already signed up for it. You might want to make your font for the comments bigger. It’s quite small when someone is writing a comment. You may have to do that in CSS. I will be happy to help you all that I can. Email me and I’ll give you my phone #. To see where what you want to change, Right Click there and at the bottom of that you should see Inspect Tool. There is a way to hone in better, but maybe I should help you with that in a phone call. So, when you see the font you need to make larger, you copy that line of code. Then you go to CSS under Personalize and paste it in there. I can do an Inspect on your blog from here so this looks like the code to change below. See where it shows the font size is 11px.? I’d copy this and go to Personalize and CSS and paste this code, then erase the 11 and put in a higher number. Then Save. Here is the code I think:
input, select, textarea {
border: 1px solid #eee;
-moz-box-shadow: 0 0 0 #fff;
-webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 0 #fff;
-webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 0 #fff;
box-shadow: 0 0 0 #fff;
color: #000;
font-size: 11px;
font-style: normal;
font-family: lato;
font-weight: 300;
letter-spacing: 0.5px;
padding: 10px;
width: 100%;
text-transform: none;
}
I have loved reading your blog and enjoyed reading about your discoveries and thoughts. I did like your old format, but I’m sure will get used to this one. I notice that you no longer list the blogs to which you subscribe, which I will miss.
Best of luck with this new one and I’ll continue to greatly look forward to reading it.
I’m sorry to say this, but I find the font used on your new site very hard to read. All capital letters also hinders the reading. I’ve so enjoyed reading your blog in the past, but I’m afraid that I won’t be able to continue following.
Hello Gail,
As I mentioned in the post, the blog isn’t entirely finished yet and the font and size is something that I am having a problem with at this time and it is being worked on. I hope that you give me a little time to work out the kinks I will be sorry to see you go.
Have a nice weekend
I’ll be patient whilst you work out the kinks dear friend – and yes this size/light font for writing comments is miniature and hard to correct with old eyes!!!
I was surprised you changed to WP – I always loved your previous layout.
Time and patience will get you over the bumps I’m sure – we’ll look forward to the changes.
Meanwhile stay well and safe.
Hugs – Mary
